Established in 1917, the city of Cookeville Fire Department is a full-service public safety agency that works to protect lives and property from fire, medical emergencies, and natural and man-made disasters through prevention, education and medical services. It employs more than 15 career and student firefighters, as well as over 45 additional members. The department handles issues related to vehicle accidents, hazardous materials, personal injuries, false alarms, nuisance calls, and structure, vehicle and brush fires. The Cookeville Fire Department conducts various community-oriented educational programs, as well as hosts a citizens fire academy. It offers various fire and life safety tips to the residents of Cookeville, Tenn.
