General Info: New South Companies was created as a holding company for its four subsidiaries: New South Lumber, New South Wood Preserving, New South Express and New South International. The companies are engaged in the manufacturing and distribution of southern pine products. The New South companies have their roots in the 1930s and 1940s as the Wall, Sledge, Singleton and Campbell families became engaged in the lumber industry and joined together to build the Red Hill Chip sawmill. New South Lumber operates nearly five sawmills and produces approximately 325 million board feet of lumber each year. New South Wood Preserving operates nearly five lumber treating plants and New South Express is a trucking company that operates more than 50 trucks. New South International is a company that trades lumber and wood products throughout the world.
