Periodontitis is often addressed by a non-surgical approach to treatment. But when bone loss advances and periodontal pockets deepen, a different technique is needed to access the infection. With advanced periodontitis, plaque, tartar and bacteria sit deep below the gum line, attached to root surfaces. These areas are hard to reach and must be surgically accessed. Osseous surgery is a proven treatment that has been used for many years in restoring oral health after gum disease.
