Dental Sealants
The sealant acts as a barrier, protecting enamel from plaque and acids. The sealant is painted onto the tooth enamel,where it bonds directly to the tooth and hardens. This plastic resin bonds into the depressions and grooves (pits and fissures) of the chewing surfaces of back teeth. As long as the sealant remains intact, the tooth surface will be protected from decay.

Fillings are done to remove decay (cavity), and replace the affected tooth structure.If not treated decay can lead to tooth pain and/or infection. Dr. Amin and Dr. Assar place only composite resins, or tooth- colored fillings, because they provide good durability and resistance to fractures without any metal or other chemicals that make up the amalgam (silver filling) material.

Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment is necessary when the pulp (soft tissue inside your teeth containing blood vessels, nerves and connective tissue) becomes inflamed or diseased. During root canal treatment, Dr. Amin removes the diseased pulp. The pulp chamber and root canal(s) of the tooth are then cleaned and sealed.

Deep Cleaning
The treatment usually involves a deep cleaning or root planning and scaling. This procedure is done under a local anesthetic, along with local antibiotic agents. If the gum disease gets too severe it may need to be treated through surgery or extraction. This is why it is important to get it treated at the first sign of a problem.

There are different types of dentures, but they share their common function. They replace teeth that have become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is great enough to loosen them or let them fall out, it's time for dentures.

That being said, it's important to know that gum does not have any dietary benefits, so while it’s not exactly harmful to swallow, you still want to avoid swallowing it. If you are an avid gum-chewer, we encourage you to chew sugarless gum, especially if you are wearing braces, because gum with sugar can lead to cavities. Sugarless gum still has the same amount of flavor, but has fewer cavity-causing ingredients.
