General Info

I use Hal Leonard Guitar Method Books 1, 2, & 3 as the main textbooks for teaching students the fundamentals of playing the guitar. As the student develops musically, we begin to include relevant examples from traditional and contemporary music such as pop, rock, country, blues, and any other works which further the student's skills and understanding. Students will also have the opportunity to learn songs from their favorite artists.We will cover topics such as: Chords - Open chords & barre chords Soloing / Improvisation - Major, minor, pentatonic & blues scales, ear training Songwriting - Basic music theory Sightreading - Standard notation, tablature Technique - Fingerpicking, articulation Other Guitar Topics - Use of a capo, slide guitar, alternate tunings
