Howard W Slutsky CPA

We've been using Howard Slutsky as our CPA for years. He and the staff are very friendly and professional. Highly recommended!

I had my taxes completed by Howard Slutzsky. I was referred to his services based on a positive review; however, I had the opposite of a positive experience. It was the most stressful, difficult, and rude experience I have ever had.



I made an appointment for my taxes to be completed with ample time. Howard was pleasant, but I should have noted his disorganized office. After a few weeks, I called to check on the progress of my taxes. I was assured that they would be completed within the following week. I called the following week (the week before April 15), and was told that Howard had received many late referrals and therefore did not have mine completed. I wish I would have asked why he was completing returns that came in after mine, before mine was completed.



The week of April 15th, I left a couple messages asking on the timeline for when my taxes would be completed. I never received a phone call. I called on Saturday (4/13/2013) hoping to get my taxes over the weekend, since I am employed and cannot run to his office at the drop of a hat. No return call.



On Monday, April 15 I called and stated that my taxes must be done by 3:00pm. I had to cancel my afternoon meetings, and take the afternoon off from work. I ended up getting called into a meeting, and was running late. At 4:00pm, Howard's office called and told me to pick them up (gee, thanks). When I arrived, I did not receive any explanation or apology. As I was signing my paperwork, I noticed that my taxes had been completed days prior! They never called! Additionally, Howard never let me know that mine would be completed on April 15th to plan ahead. I needed to derive that information myself, and worry.



I left his office in a rush, to get my taxes completed and to the post office. I had a question as I was signing multiple city taxes. After missing work, battling traffic, rushing to get them done and postmarked, the receptionist stated that she couldn't help me unless I drove back. At 5:00pm. On APRIL 15th! After paying too much for them to be done, having them at the last minute, rushing through traffic, changing my plans, and taking a personal day, I received ZERO help. I had the joy of guessing what to do. Keep your money. Go to someone organized, knowledgable, and not an arrogant procrastinator with receptionists that know less than I do about taxes (which is very little) What. A. Waste.



My boyfriend was boarding a plane in mere hours, which was explained to them; however, it made no difference. We had the enjoyment of worrying, rushing, and changing our schedules to accommodate Howard. Shouldn't a business be under the opposite practice?



If you love to have zero help, pay a ton, rush, worry, and be ignored, you've found your ideal CPA. You must also have to have unlimited time to be on beacon call. Howard clearly only works under those assumptions.



I will NEVER go back. I hope someone else doesn't make the same (very stressful) mistake I did.
