The company s nearly 20,000 employees work in service centers in Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. Michael G. Morris has been the chief executive officer of American Electric for more than two years. He has been with the utility company for over two years. Morris earned a BS degree from Eastern Michigan University, and a JD degree from the Detroit College of Law. The company is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. American Electric Power was incorporated in New York in 1906 as American Gas and Electric Company, offering electricity, gas, water and steam services to New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.
