About MidTown Business Association The MidTown Merchants Association, formed on November 21, 2006, now takes a new name and formal organizational structure as MidTown Business Association continuing the mission of the original organization while expanding to encompass the broader MidTown business community. The Association is focused on promoting, sustaining and enhancing the economic vitality of MidTown businesses ; facilitating communication among merchants in MidTown ; and amplifying to a wider local and state audience individual concerns, resources and influence. Shortly after its founding, the Merchants Association in the spirit of mutual support and patronage undertook its first successful marketing effort with the MidTown Passport program. The Passport program encouraged additional same-day purchases from participating MidTown merchants with the incentive of a 10% discount. In this same cooperative spirit, MidTown Business Association will continue to sponsor programs that bring shoppers to the MidTown area, and patrons to MidTown retailers and businesses ; all the while familiarizing the community with products, services and opportunities available only through MidTown businesses and merchants. From Fortune 500 to hometown barbeque, businesses of all sorts and size make their home in MidTown Columbus. Among MidTown's commercial districts are professional offices, media headquarters, financial institutions, a growing medical community and, of course, a wide-ranging variety of specialty shops and restaurants. MidTown is home of the international headquarters for AFLAC, the Columbus Museum and the Columbus Regional Library with its 123, 000 card-holding patrons. MidTown boasts recently and uniquely renovated retail centers and diverse architectural styles, including what is reputed to be the city's only Art Deco commercial building. Accessibility, convenience, cultural, recreational and educational amenities, and vibrant residential neighborhoods make MidTown a natural for business. The goal of the Business Association is membership representing at least 75% of the MidTown business community.
