Carolina Girl Confections

Shanel was wonderful. She made my Mom's 65th birthday cake and she loved it.

Carolina Girl Confections is probably the best bakery I've used, period. The owner (and baker) Shanel is really super. My husband and I first had her sweet treats at the Habitat for Humanity 30th anniversary Gala. She created an amazing table with props and an assortment of cakes and cupcakes. At that event, we had the red velvet cake and lemon berry cupcakes. She'd also made a vanilla sheet cake. They were a hit! Everything was a hit because it was all gone before the gala ended. We got her information and gave her a call the following Monday, but she was closed. Ugh. I left a message and she returned the call that Tuesday afternoon. I ordered a Lemon Berry cake and some strawberry shortcake cupcakes. Oh. My. God. Everything was soooooo good! Moist, full of flavor, fresh... There's nothing I could complain about except I wish I had ordered more! I'm definitely giong to be a repeat customer. Shanel is also really nice and helpful. She takes her baking seriously and it shows in her products. I also really liked the courtesy text letting me know when my items were ready for pickup. I'll surely be calling on Carolina Girl Confections again... and again!

What can I say... Carolina Girl Confections is awesome! I was looking for a cake -- at the last minute -- and searched all night and more the next morning. I saw a listing for Carolina Girl Confections, but kept looking for a bakery closer to home (I live in West Columbia; she is located southeast Columbia). I decided to visit their website and my goodness are the cakes beautiful.

Shanel is a godsend. I called and she walked me through her ordering process and before I knew it, I was on my way! She jokingly told me that next time "I'd better not wait til the last minute," but said that she's used to it because most customers tend to pick up the cake last (she can prepare most Southern heirloom cakes with 24 hour notice if need be). She set up a two hour pick up window (she does offer delivery for only $10) and emailed me an invoice. There are several options to pay, and she sent me a payment link to handle the balance. I loved that because when I picked up my cake I was on a tight schedule. What I LOVED the day of pick up is that I got a text message from her reminding me of pickup and what time, specifically, my cake would be ready.

I ordered an Italian Creme Cake. It was AMAZING. No, really, it WAS. I have never had a cake so beautiful, moist and full of flavor! I am already looking forward to the holidays when it'll be time to order again!

I would absolutely recommend Shanel and Carolina Girl Confections for any baked cakes or pastries! She is truly a lovely Carolina Girl ;)

Shanel is an absolute pleasure to work with! She is an extremely professional, talented young woman who can make a heck of a cake! My boyfriend adores German chocolate cake, and it seemed to me that NOWHERE in Columbia makes them! I stumbled upon Carolina Girl Confections and Shanel was able to put together a beautiful, DELICIOUS cake with only a 24 hour notice for my boyfriend's birthday. Communicating with her was also a breeze! She sent me an invoice the day I ordered, as well as a follow-up email the next day, and a text message about an hour before pick-up that my cake was ready to go! It was very nice to receive updates on my order.



I will absolutely be returning to her for my cake needs in the future. :)

Shanel with Carolina Girl Confections is just about the sweetest Southern girl I've come in contact with! And her cake jars... SO GOOD! I live in Valley View, Texas, and saw Carolina Girl Confections on Facebook. I noticed plenty of folks had great things to say about her cakes (and they are beautiful) so we wanted to give them a try. Only thing was living so far away. But, they offer an item called Cake Jars and they are able to ship those! WOO-HOO!!! My family and I got red velvet, carrot cake and chocolate/caramel. We ordered 5 of each (there is a minimum order of 5 of each flavor) and they are the best cakes we've tasted! You should definitely give them a try. I had a great experience and will be calling on them again soon!

I looked and looked for a bakery in Columbia that could do a cake for my sister's anniversary party ans stumbled upon Carolina Girl Confections. Shanelwilliams was very professional and easy to talk to. She clearly got where I wanted to go with the cake because when she delivered our cake it was more beautiful than I could have imagined. I wasn't concerned about the taste because of the reviews I'd read on her website but I had no idea it was going to taste SO good!! Kudos to Shanel and Carolina Girl Confections
