In August 2016, I applied for food stamps (SNAP). After taking copies of my lease and bills to the Clinton office, I was told that my case worker never received the documents and I would have to gather all of those documents again and take them down there. Instead, I drove to the Clinton DHS office and asked the receptionist to look for my paperwork. She found my documents in a huge stack of unprocessed files on the counter near her desk and promised to process them. On September 26, I received a letter approving me for SNAP beginning September 7, 2016. Today is October 17 and I still have not received an EBT card. I have made numerous attempts to reach my worker, but he NEVER answers the phone. He has had the same message on his voice mail for years stating that he is in a meeting and to leave a message. When you call the Clinton office, you have the option to hold for an operator. In the past, one of the case workers would answer the phone and try to help you. They no longer do that now. The phone rings and rings for an operator and no one ever answers. I am semi-retired. The last time I had to apply for food stamps I went through this same thing. My case worker never bothered to order my EBT card, forcing me to call the long distance 866 number and wait on hold for over two hours to get help. This shocking disregard and lack of appropriate service is clearly discriminatory toward the elderly, disabled and disadvantaged.

If you can get through, in Clinton TN., which you can't, all you get is a squeal from a fax machine. NO ONE answers the phone.

They don't protect children. If they give a drugged out parent a drug test, they call & make an appointment.

Nashville says it is PROTOCOL. It gives the parent enough time to take a detox product so they can pass a drug test.

What are we doing paying these idiots to NOT protect children.
