New Construction
Student success and safety are our top concerns in a school construction project. Academic calendars affect timelines, schools often need to stay open during construction, and there are inherent challenges in noise and environmental disturbances. Megen’s track-record for safety is second-to-none and our weekly email updates will keep all stakeholders informed. Working within the state of Ohio’s standard regulations, we’ve delivered preconstruction and construction services for 30+ public and private school clients in dozens of K-12 schools and universities for over 20 years.
Demolition
Built in the 1920s, this former Sears store landmark faced demolition until it was renovated by the University of Cincinnati as its new Office for Innovation. The 167,000 SF renovation of the UC Innovation Hub included abatement and demolition of a 1945 building wing, followed closely by stabilization and enclosure of the remaining building. A new north façade was constructed, as well as restoration of the east, south and west brick facades/windows and roof. The tower was preserved, brick stripped off and reclad, and the Art Deco ornamentation carefully duplicated. The project also included tenant fit-outs of office and manufacturing space, as well as locker rooms, bicycle storage, a catering kitchen and multi-purpose meeting space. Also known as iHub, the building serves as a front door to the University, and is home to UC’s Office of Innovation, P&G-backed Simulation Center, and other tenants including Cincinnati Bell, Kroger, CincyTech, Village Life Outreach and Live Well Collaborative.
