Suncoast Marine Electronics

I was only going to be docked in Clearwater for a week, including the MLK holiday. I had about 3 or 4 electrical issues, including my chart plotter and wind meter. I called on Friday evening, hoping they might squeeze me in late the next week. Instead, the owner called me from his cell phone on the way home, offered some very useful advice on things I hadn’t thought to do, and asked me to call him after the holiday if I still had any issues. He explained that they have about a 2-week waiting list, so I didn’t get me hopes up.

I managed to fix one of the issues based on his advise. When I called back 3 days later, he had Mike (a great guy) come out that morning. Fewer than 2 hours later everything was repaired and working great. This was WAY beyond my expectations. I can’t thank them enough for what they did. Now, my boat is humming along just great!

Do not to business with this place. They are an authorized Lowrance (my head unit) and KVH (electronic auto-compass) dealer/repair shop. My radar overlay feature would not work on my map. They compeletly misdiagnosed the problem after charging me 1.5hours labor at $140. I replaced my autocompass per their instruction and had the same problem. Put back in the old compass and called Lowrance tech support, which walked me thru 3 simple settings, took less than 10 minutes walking me through it over the phone! Now suncoast marine electronics is brushing me off, not refunding my $, while only offering me a partial credit to do furture business with them - NO WAY, HORRIBLE EXPIERENCE. I have had to register complaines with Lowrance and KVH as well as dispute the charge with my credit company. I've owned a varitey of boats over the last 30 some years and never had a worse expierence with any boat shop, mechanic, etc...
