We are writing to warn you about this unprofessional decorator. First and foremost make sure to write up a contract for your protection and make sure to have her sign it-something we failed to do! In two different payments we paid over $30K up front but we were definitely convinced that she must have been using that money and we seriously doubted any furniture was ordered when we were told so. After a few months we started asking when things would arrive and we constantly got the run around and were lied to in many occasions about arrival dates. When we asked for invoices so that we could see when things were ordered, we were told we'd get them but kept getting the run around on that too. We finally hire an attorney who threatened legal actions; we finally received invoices for the furniture orders (not convinced that they were real though, and when we contacted the places it was shipped from they said they could only discuss the orders with the decorator). When she received the letter from the attorney she became very defensive and unprofessional, which led us even more to disbelieve her. In one case she ordered us a piece of furniture that was too big to fit in the house (I would have thought she would have measured). At this point we were fed up and just wanted her to take it back and give us our money back, but in so many words she said that she wouldn't be able to afford to do so since the piece was custom ordered. At that time I figured legal action wouldn't get us anywhere and we actually ended up having to replace our door just to get it in the house-which ended up costing an additional $5k and be done with her. After all the lies, attorney costs and frustration we were finally made whole on our furniture. BUT would certainly not recommend this decorator!!
