Advanced Eyecare Associates

Advanced Eye Care is by far the worst optometric experience I have ever had! I called Advanced Eye Care to make an appointment because I realized I needed a prescription after having Lasik years ago. The person making the appointment asked if I wore contacts, and I explained that I didn’t currently, but likely needed a prescription. During my appointment, Advanced Eye Care photographed my eye, but explained that it would cost $40 extra to look at the photo that was already a thumbnail pic on the computer screen! The doctor said that my insurance wouldn’t cover that, but they would cover having my eyes dilated. Because glasses are already an expense, I decided to have my eyes dilated- which is quite an uncomfortable process. I asked the doctor myriad questions about contact wearing, she answered them, gave me a prescription that I assumed was for whatever I needed and walked out- obviously in a rush. I live three hours away in the summer, and had another appointment. After the exam, I cooled my heels for over twenty minutes waiting for someone to be available to sell me glasses and presumably contacts; I had plenty of time to pick out frames. I had to leave so I wouldn’t be late for my next appointment before anyone was available to talk to me. I had to attend my next appointments wearing sunglasses indoors because my eyes were dilated.

So, when I got home I called to order the frames I had selected. I asked if I could order contacts, and she said no I needed to come back for another appointment which would cost over $100 more dollars. A fact the doctor never bothered to mention while I was in an exam asking her questions about contacts! So, I ordered glasses and checked with the salesperson to make sure she would mail my glasses to my summer address rather than my permanent one. She said no problem. I asked if I could pay her, and she said no- someone from billing would call me. I get a call two weeks later saying my glasses are ready for pick up, but I urgently need to pay for them. I asked if I could pay for them when I ordered, but was told no. I paid and said I had asked to have them mailed. They said fine, but it would cost me more. She said she had my address, I asked her to verify for me, and it was of course the wrong one. So the person who sold me my glasses could apparently order them, but not take payment or put a correct address on file.

My new glasses arrived and started to give me headaches when I wore them. After my terrible experience with Advanced Eye Care, I went to another doctor for a contact exam. My contacts were issued with a weaker prescription- which doesn’t make my head hurt. Read- Advanced Eye Care over prescribed me.

Icing on the cake, over a month later I get a bill for $30 for having my eyes dilated because my insurance didn’t cover it! I assume there must be some mistake, because the doctor specifically told me it was covered. Don’t waste your time with these clowns! Definitely choose another doctor in town that won’t rake you over the coals!
