BEWARE OF THIS FACILITY!!! My friends had to go to Europe for 2 weeks to assist their family. They kenneled their perfectly healthy 3 1/2 year old standard poodle at North Louisiana Veterinary Center, Bossier City, Louisiana. Upon returning from Europe they found out the dog died the first week he was at the facility. He died of a twisted stomach, commonly known as "Bloat" . The facility was told the dog was a nibbler and was free fed all day. He was not a gulper! Oblivously, the staff did not adhere to the owner's instructions . It is also obvious that no one checked on him, as a dog with bloat can be saved, if seen by a vet within 20 minutes. Since a vet was on the premise, why oh why did this wonderful companion die? Needless to say, my friends are heartbroken at such a senseless death. This dog was known throughout the US and was loved by many, many people. Please, please, do not use this facility for your beloved pet. Go to someone who cares!!!

I have been to this facility a...

I have used this facility on several occasions in the past with 2 pets, and I hate that you had such a bad experience with them and the puppy died. They have gone out of their way in the past to accommodate me, especially when I brought my mixed mutt in when she was pregnant and needed immediate attention. They did not give her very good odds of making it through surgery, but I asked them to do it anyway. They stayed LATE and performed the surgery! I am VERY thankful they were willing to work with me and SAVE my dog!! We couldn't keep the puppy because my dog was too weak to nurse it and the doctor told me that unless I would be able to take care of my dog AND the puppy and be available to feed the newborn puppy every 2 hours with a bottle around the clock, then it would be better not to keep it. Since I had a job, I was unable to perform the extra duties.

If you had wanted to get more info on how to raise the puppy, you could have come to the web for answers. Here is a good site:

http://www.2ndchance.info/orphanpuppy.htm They tell you how to care for orphaned puppies: feeding, housing, warming, handling, etc. That does not excuse anyone from being rude and rushing out the door at closing, but if you did not have the puppy with you maybe there is a chance that they did not believe you had a puppy. Raising a newborn puppy on your own isn't easy and is not guaranteed to be a success. It can be heartbreaking.

Sorry you had a bad experience there. I hope you will reconsider them. My pet loved them. Judy

Anyway,

I had a new born puppy that was not nursing and was away from the mom and litter. It was cold and weak. I raced to the closest vet to me. The owner and 5 other employees there. I was sold some formula. I really didn't know what to expect I was up against so I asked some questions like; how do I keep the puppy warm?, How much do i feed it and how often? I learned that one of the employees is currently nursing 3 puppies of her own. Suddenly the owner peeked out from the back room and called that employee out of the room. I asked another employee if I could finish speaking to the girl I was talking to because we were in mid-sentence and she didn't get to answer any of my question. I was then told that they were closing. I told her that this would only take a moment. The owner came out to "lock" the doors. The girl that was pulled out of the room came back I asked her to continue what she was telling me. At that time the owner stepped in and told me she can't talk to me and again I was told that they were closing. I asked why can't she? the owner's reply was that they haven't seen the puppy they can't talk to me about it. Okaaaaay... I asked if the girl if we could chat quickly off the clock in the parking lot. Again the owner stepped in and told me again that they haven't seen the puppy they can't talk to me about it, on or off the clock. I could see in the face of the employee that she was very distributed by the owners actions. It is a shame that the owner is more worried about closing up than trying to help save a new born puppy's life. It was basic question come on! BTW the puppy died in my hands.
