The Broome County Probation Department offers protection to the communities by checking crime and delinquency. It accomplishes various services through investigation, supervision and diversion of cases of the Family Court Act, the penal law, vehicle and traffic law and other laws of the state of New York. The department works with the courts, police and other human resource agencies in the county of Broome in New York to rehabilitate offenders. It operates specialized cases for driving while intoxicated, sex offenders, domestic violence, gangs and digital spread spectrum restitution collection. The department has a criminal division that also provides pretrial release services to law offenders. The Broome County Probation Department is located in Binghamton, N.Y.
