It is a community based and nonprofit organization. Alta Bates Summit Medical Center was formed in 1999, merging Alta Bates,Herrick, Merritt, Peralta and Providence hospitals including nearly 100 years of work. It is JCAHO accredited and services include 24-hour emergency care, surgery, high risk obstetrics, Level III Newborn Intensive Care Nursery, acute rehabilitation, diagnostic imaging, HIV/AIDs services, behavioral health, chemical dependency, physical therapy, intensive care and laboratory services.
