General Info

Collyer Visuals is founded by Leigh Collyer, who now resides in Bemidji Minnesota. Leigh is a self-taught photographer with over 15 years experience in both Canada and the US. He began his career as a fashion and dance photographer in the mid eighties in Toronto. Excelling at his profession he moved to Winnipeg to join large studios doing catalog and advertising work. Later he moved to Calgary and moved on as a freelancer. He has provided images to advertising agencies, magazines and corporations such as Canadian Superstores, Hudson Bay, Canada Olympic Parks, S.C.Johnson Wax,  among many others. Wanting a change, Leigh moved to the US to obtain a Degree in Industrial Technology from Bemidji State University, emphasizing Technical Illustration and Model Making. With this degree he has been involved in product development for more than a decade and has worked on nearly 80 products, which helped in acquiring a Masters in Industrial Technology with a thesis focused on prototyping.  As a prototype model maker Leigh has worked for such corporations as Fiskars and Johnson Outdoors and a host of independent companies fabricating the finest prototype models used for everything from master production patterns, testing and beauty models, through to pilot production products. Our partners and professional relationships provide access to top talent, when combined with our collaborating associates are capable of accomplishing virtually any project.

We provide the visuals used in developing and promoting products by blending practical methods of design with prototype model making and commercial photography. Our experience in product development and design spans the range from ideation through to prototype model making in any form. Photography: 1500 Sq.Ft. studio / 25' Cove / 11' ceiling / full digital and film 35mm to 4x5 / retouching and composites / Lounge area / Kitchenett / all forms of lighting including light painting / location available. Model Making: Private and secure shop / well equipped with tools and equipment required for traditional prototype fabrications, including machining molding and casting, finishing and detailing. If we can't do something we collaborate with the very best specialty shops - then manage your project. Design: We have the skills and imagination to execute most any project from ideation sketches to full illustrations and CAD drawings. We also have working agreements with nationally recognized and award winning industrial and graphic designers to complement your needs with full service capabilities.
