Avondale High School serves more than 900 students in grades 9 through 12. It has various academic departments, such as English, mathematics, fine arts, and career and technical education. The school additionally offers classes in world languages, health and physical education, social studies and science. Avondale High School has a counseling center that provides various support and counseling services. Its athletics department offers a variety of sports activities, such as baseball, basketball, cheerleading, football, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field, volleyball and wrestling. The school supports several clubs and organizations that include the National Honor Society and art, band and beta clubs. Avondale High School has a media center that provides access to the Internet and stocks books, encyclopedias, periodicals, catalogs, online databases and reference materials. It is located in Avondale Estates, Ga., and is a part of the DeKalb County School System.
