Dr. Rick was raised in Auburn and graduated from Auburn High School. In college he decided to major in Zoology at BYU before attending dental school at Loma Linda University. While at Loma Linda University’s School of Dentistry he earned numerous awards for academic excellence and graduated in the very top of his class. Specifically he received the Academic Excellence Gold Award for finishing in the top 1% of the country on the National Board Dental Examinations and the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology award. He is also a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the prestigious national dental honor society reserved for students who finish in the top 10% of their class.

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends bringing your child to see us by the age of 7. While the odds are that your child will not need treatment or braces at that point, it’s important for us to examine your child’s jaw and palate development, just to make sure that everything is happening as it should. By seeing you child early, we will also have more context as we monitor their future growth. With this additional context we can more accurately determine if an orthodontic issue is improving or worsening on its own. By monitoring your child’s growth, we can often recommend preventative treatment, like expanders or space maintainers, to minimize the development of more serious issues in adolescence or later in life.

Our talented orthodontists were able to treat this dramatic case with special techniques they’ve pioneered. We designed a treatment plan to address the presence of extra teeth, some of which were fused together, and provide a wide, natural smile for this patient without implants or veneers. This adult patient was able to overcome significant orthodontic issues, including a worn down bite and several missing teeth. Our talented orthodontists worked closely with the patient’s dentist and created a treatment plan to fix the alignment issues. We were able to avoid extractions, and have prevented the need for this patient to wear dentures. Our orthodontists are some of the few in the nation that competently take on extremely complicated multi-disciplinary cases like this one.

Dental Implants
This is another complex adult case showing how our talented orthodontists handle patients missing several adult teeth. By designing a customized treatment plan using Damon Braces, this patient was able to replace missing teeth and achieve a wide smile with dental implants. The final result was a more natural looking wide smile.

Invisalign Orthodontics
He has over 15 years of experience using the Damon system and was an early adopter of Invisalign and Invisalign Teen.
Braces
With conventional braces, the wires are attached to the braces by elastic ligatures or “o-rings”. These elastics press the wires against the teeth. The resulting pressure and friction slows down the movement of the teeth. What this means is that with traditional braces, much more pressure, and often discomfort, is required to move the teeth into the desired position.

Teeth Whitening
We use discreet clear night time-only retainers that cover all of the surfaces of the teeth. They’re like pajamas for your teeth! We call these our 3-in-1 retainers because they protect your teeth from movement, grinding, and can also be used for professional whitening trays.
