Awful. I went with my neice, who I was afraid had an eaing disorder, to get help. The front desk was rude and difficult to deal with. After a full 2 hour wait, I finally got to see her pediatrician. She treated me as if I was a moron. Told me after the 3 second convo about my concerns that I didnt know what I was talking about and left. At the time I was new to this whole parenting thing as my neice had only been with us for about 6 months. So I left instead of fighting. I found the hard way a few months later that my suspicions in fact were correct with the help of her guidance counselor and school nurse. A 14 year old girl at 5 feet shouldnt weigh only 68lbs. Every time she ate she retreated to the restroom and was infact "purging". Right on Dr. Thanks for the death sentance had I not followed thruogh via different avenues I would have lost her. It has been a few years since and I have not been back.

Today my friend called upset, her daughter woke with a high fever of 103.9 and when she called the pedi office they shrugged her off and at 230 pm told her she would be seen at 7pm give tylenol its a virus that is going around. She asked about redi med or and urgent care appointment and was told no they wouldnt give the referal and it was a virus she didnt need to go to the ED. Asking the front office how to get there, as she has only been to the Shrewsbury office, they gave the address and simply hung up. Clearly standards for CS have not changed. Being a first time mom she listened to them and ignored her own intuition. She arrived for her 7pm appt and proceeded to wait an hour before being seen. Any parent of a sick 19 month old knows how fun this is. Her daughter was at the 4.5 hour mark with tylenol when they took her temp. She had spiked back up and was now 104.8. The pedi then took her respitory rate which was only 87%. The next question was would you like to ride in an ambulance to the ER or can you drive her? No explination, No words of comfort, No emotion. What?! So my friend asked what was going on, they said her daughter needed fluids and they would do blood work and maybe admit her but maybe not. Could be viral could be bacterial. Now I know health care standards are at an all time low, but this behavior is shameful. No parent first time or otherwise should be treated this way. No child deserves to suffer because of their lack of concern.

So if my best friend asked me what I think of Child Health Services, I would tell them please dont go there. Keep your child out of their hands and safe. They need an overhaul or they need to be shut down.
