Great Family Dentist

I have always had to take my youngest son to a pediatric dentist. I brought him in to Dr. Mears office recently and was thrilled. He not only sat good, but Dr. Mears did fillings on him without him even realizing he had a shot. I would recommend this office to anyone looking for a honest, down to earth, family focused dentist. He now treats my whole family and we couldn't be happier.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral Surgery
For implant-retained dentures, we’ll place as many of the titanium posts as needed into your jawbone during an oral surgery. In some cases, we can also install a temporary denture on the same day. After the implants have fused to your jawbone, we’ll place a more permanent denture that allows you to reap the rewards of having the sturdiest method of tooth replacement available.
Flap Surgery
Tooth Extractions
Depending on the nature of your tooth, either a simple or surgical extraction will be performed. Simple extractions are performed when the tooth is clearly visible and therefore easier to remove. Surgical extractions are done when the tooth is trapped underneath gum tissue and therefore requires a surgical incision in order to access. Once the tooth is clearly visible, our office uses a dental elevator to gently remove the tooth from the periodontal ligament holding it in place. After it’s been removed, a pair of dental forceps are used to firmly grasp the tooth and pull it from the jaw. Don’t worry, local anesthetic is provided to remove any potential discomfort. Those who fear dental treatment can also take advantage of oral conscious sedation to put themselves at ease.
Bone Grafting
Many patients need bone grafting before their placement surgery, but it isn’t always necessary. Your dental implants require adequate bone support to succeed. If you have areas of weakened bone, you may require the additional treatment, which will add thickness to your jaw using material from a donor or another area of your body. Although it will add another step to your plan, if we recommend the procedure, it’s crucial to the viability of your new smile.
