Tire Shak

I have been a good customer for many years and always felt my vehicle was in good hands and never shopped around for a better deal. Despite having to wait, sometimes hours and never complaining, for a simple SCHEDULED oil change.



Then this past March I had an oil change and within 100 miles of driving my truck was overheating. Thankfully I was not far from a gas station and waited for it to cool off only to find there was NO ANTIFREEZE in my engine. I put some him and got home and called Vinny. He offered to come get the vehicle but I explained I got it home and asked him if it is customary for his shop to check fluids upon and oil change. He assured me that yes they do. It was too late the overheating blew a head gasket on a motor with only 35,000 miles. Causing me to get an expensive repair including timing chain and now I am having issues with rockers and I feel my engine will never be the same.



I spoke with him about this issue and he wanted me to go to the engine company but the warranty was expired at 30,000. miles. I also wrote to him and sent the repair bill and expected a call back but nothing.



I would caution anyone TO CHECK YOUR OWN FLUIDS AND NOT TRUST THIS SHOP! Unfortunately years of being a good paying customer does not even earn you an ounce of respect and wont own up to a huge mistake. As this vehicle is what I use for my business and I am at a loss.

I just wanted to share a great experience that I had today with Tire Shak in Ansonia/Seymour, CT. I brought my vehicle to their shop this afternoon at 3pm because of a severe rattle and vibration. I explained to the owner that budget was a concern and he offered to diagnose the problem for free. After doing some tests and inspecting the vehicle it was determined that my drive shaft was cracked.... Being a backyard mechanic myself, the owner was able to show me the issue first hand. We both determined that it was not safe to drive home so I asked if it was alright if I left the car there. Two hours later, I received a phone call explaining that my car was repaired and ready to be picked up. The part (which costs $900 at the dealership) was found at D’addario’s for a fraction of the cost. Not only did the Tire Shak save me over $1000, they diagnosed and repaired what I would consider a major problem within 3 hours. I was so impressed and amazed with the level of service and care that I received at the Tire Shak; I thought it was worth sharing with the valley. My family and I will be loyal customers of the Tire Shak for life and I would recommend them to anyone that is looking for a great honest repair shop.
