It can be difficult as a parent to know if your child will out-grow a condition, or if they need to be evaluated by pediatric care specialists. Early detection and treatment of pediatric musculoskeletal disorders is the key to good outcomes, therefore, it is important to establish care early when symptoms arise. Your child’s primary care provider can be a good place to start, and while we do not require a referral to be seen in our clinics, they can provide helpful guidance.
Family Practice
During your first visit at our Bone Health Clinic, our Bone Health Specialists will review your personal and family health history, medications, activities and pain to determine your risk. This may lead to obtaining appropriate lab and imaging such as bone density testing (DXA, and/or QCT) or further x-rays. The results will indicate the next plan of action. The testing, discussion with the bone health provider, and results may happen within the same appointment visit. You can expect this initial visit to take approximately one hour.
