Westfield Apts

I do not recommend this apartment complex. The apartment I lived in had holes in the walls when I moved in and was never repainted. The caulking along the kitchen counters, bathroom counters, and shower was barely there (needed redone a long time ago). Kitchen and bathroom tiles are coming up and need replaced. All the vents were caked with dust and mold when I moved in. For much of my stay (several years), I had to fight black mold on all the windows and under the kitchen sink (Many other tenants have the same issue with mold). There is even mold on the ceiling tiles in the hallways. The dishwasher and ovens are cheap and very outdated. Even though the facility is smoke-free, sometimes when you walk in the hallways, you can definitely smell cigarette smoke and marijuana. Manager is on site approximately half of the time he should be, and the "policies" are never enforced. The weight room is never cleaned or organized, and the bathroom is never tended to. There is never toilet paper, and the weight room bathroom is always dirty. The landscaping outside is in poor condition. The manager never takes care of it, except to mow occasionally. There has been a tree in the front of the building that has been dead for years. You walk along the sidewalks, and the tree branches are blocking the walkway. Weeds grow waist high on ground level apartments. There is trash everywhere along the building. Leaves and sticks are never picked up. The outside landscape, or lack of, is embarrassing. Management in this complex cannot be counted on.

The facility and the apartment are nice; however, management leaves A LOT to be desired. The building claims to not tolerate smokers, but it is not uncommon to find cigarette butts, and smoke running through the ventilation. Manager is on site approximately half of the time and the "policies" are not always enforced. Weight room is supposed to be kept clean and organized, but management takes no initiative to remedy this. Weight room bathrooms were often unsanitary despite multiple maintenance request--no toliet paper, toliets that didn't flush, and overflowing trash cans for weeks at a time. Snow removal is fair and side walks are not cleared. Weeds grow waist high on ground level apartments. Overall, building and apartments are nice but management cannot be counted on. Also, deposit return is slow and does not follow Iowa law. (Iowa law states that management has one month after lease expires to return deposit check to tenant).
