DUI/DWI
This service provides undisputable evidence in the arena of drugs of abuse found in urine, saliva, hair, or suspect substances or paraphernalia such as syringes, mirrors, baggies or foil. Alcohol testing via blood for legal DWI cases, breath tests for DOT or rehabilitation monitoring, for the newest technology testing for ETG (ethyl glucuronide) that detects the consumption of alcohol for up to 5 days. This technology is extremely useful in rehabilitation setting, correctional programs, and private issue dealing with family. Independent Drug Testing and Forensic Services (IDTAFS) can analyze saliva using a patented technology that only IDTAFS can provide. IDTAFS has been given permission to use this technology and is the only lab qualified to use this analysis. Confirmatory analysis by GC/MS (gas chromatograph/mass spectrometer) can specifically determine the drug in the biological media whether it be urine, blood, saliva, or hair.
Sex Crimes
Special services are available such as inhalant analysis, anabolic steroid analysis, date rape analysis (ketamine, rohypnol, GHB). With the exception of anabolic steroids, detection time is quite limited and may not be seen beyond 12-24 hours.
Homicide
Independent Drug Testing and Forensic Services has analyzed ballistics in a homicide case where a Chinese AK47 was used and aided a local police department in their case. By the determination of the rifling (the marks on a projectile) and by the lands and groves will provide proof – or elimination – of a weapon. If a suspected weapon is found, it can be compared to a crime scene projectile by the use of a comparison microscope and photographed for courtroom evidence. The characteristics of a projectile are unique as fingerprints to a particular weapon by which caliber and manufacturer can be determined. Projectiles from a suspected weapon are recovered in a variety of media including sand, water, gel, and a variety of ballistic chambers designed to capture a near perfect projectile for comparison.
