        Chartered and incorporated in 1919 as a patriotic veteran's organization, The American Legion is one of the largest veteran's service organizations in the United States. Based in Burbank, Calif., the organization mainly focuses in offering service to veterans, service members and communities. American Legion has around 2.4 million members in 14,000 posts organized into 55 departments around the world. The organization has founded many programs for children and youth, including American Legion Baseball and Boys Nation.
