Location- This is my favorite Kerbey location. It's the original and the charm of a house-turned-restaurant makes the small size worth it. And here, you miss a lot of the student crowd. The service is hit or miss, but if you can get Joy as your server, do! She's great.Food- Order the Kerbey Queso (or Cowboy Queso). Just do it. I go with my super-picky sister who doesn't eat pico de gallo or guacamole so we get both on the side. It's perfect because then there's more of everything. The salsa that comes with it isn't spectacular by itself, but alongside the queso it's perfect. The chipotle chicken pasta is awesome. (This might be a seasonal item... I don't think it's on the menu right now)The shredded chicken quesadillas and tacos are decent. The pancakes are thick, heavy ones- not like light, fluffy IHOP pancakes. These guys have serious substance. I like the apple whole wheat and lemon poppyseed! Even if I'm not ordering breakfast, I'll get a pancake on the side. The turkey and avocado sandwich is delicious. The chocolate coffee is good- and you get two free refills. The iced coffee is pretty good too. It's cold brewed which is a plus, and I've never been able to finish the whole glass. When I first moved to Austin I wasn't completely impressed with Kerbey Lane, but now I go regularly because they're open 24 hours, the queso is awesome, and the ambiance is great!

The most friendly people work at this Starbucks. It is always clean and the drinks always taste right. The employees are there to make sure all the customers are taken care of and they are always smiling. Great place to study or get some work done. Many students in the evening and during the day…
The Raspberry Pancakes (only available on some days) are the best pancakes in the entire world. This is a verified true fact. The only thing better than these pancakes is the joyful laughter of small children and world peace.
I live in S Austin and go to Erie Bean at least a couple times each week. The coffee is good and less expensive than all the chain places (e.g. Starbucks). The staff is friendly but more important they are genuine - the owners even work the coffee bar certain times. They also have free live m…
10. Austin Java
We go here at lease once a week- everything is awesome!! We brings the dogs outside on the patio. Love the tortilla soup and peanut chicken sandwich- the tuna sandwich is a bit dry but other than that everything rocks.
13. Shady Grove
I really love this place! It's a cute restaurant with a great location, huge parking in the back. Sometimes there is a little bit of a wait, but the outside environment is really nice. They have some awesome burgers and the food overall is really delicious!
14. Fair Bean Coffee
Not only a fair trade place but also THE coffee place in South Austin, with excellent service and delicious Latin American salty goodies like ""pancitos de queso"" to try along with a ""cafe pintado"" or any of the teas. By the way, the Healthy Shake is tremendous! (it's a whole meal in itself).…
15. Thai Fresh
I was fortunate enough to tumble upon Thai Fresh in South Austin. They have a counter where you can order authentic Thai dishes prepared fresh, daily. The owner, Jam, and her staff use a lot of fresh, local, seasonal ingredients. She also has a huge wall of spices, sauces, and Thai ""groceries""…
But now the important thing--the coffee. IT'S GOOD. I MEAN IT IS GOOD. Sorry, did I say how good it was? Personally, I'm a straight-up-black-coffee drinker (and will be til the day I die), so I love a coffee with a nice rich flavor. Once Over undoubtedly has some of the best coffee I've had…
Elizabeth Street Cafe is a French-Vietnamese Fusion restaurant. They have everything from pho, bahn mi, and bun to crepes, macaroons, and tartlets. The food was fresh, tasty, and very well made. I had the Keffir Fried Chicken vermicelli bowl which was delicious. If you like spicy drinks, try…
Great place to sneak away and get work done or for a casual meeting. The half winter moon is the office favorite and you can find us there for team meetings frequently. Ask for the wifi password and you're all set!
For that special meal between 6 shots of liquor and Breakfast, there is no better place to be than Magnolia Cafe! Quick and friendly service paired with delicious fresh food, makes this South Lamar diner my go-to Late Night/Breakfast destination. Loved it!!!
We recently had our rehearsal dinner here, and every guest is raving about the quality of the food. Usually, when restaurants cook for a large number of people, the quality of the food is compromised. At Castle Hill, they were able to cook every beef tenderloin and fish to perfection and that…
24. Dominican Joe
I stopped by because I LOVE Dominican Coffee and the location was convenient. I am a coffee junkie and I am ADDICTED to Starbucks. I chose this over Starbucks because of the free wifi and the place is big and comfy. I was PLEASANTLY surprised!! I ordered the vanilla latte. It was the best cup of…
26. Thistle Cafe
Thistle is hands down my favorite lunch spot in dtown Austin. the food is amazing and they have great variety. It gets crowded for lunch and sometimes feels understaffed but besides that it is perfect. I would go there every day if I could. They also serve great bfast tacos and starbucks in the …
28. Zocalo Cafe
while their food is ""standard"" dishes: enchiladas, tacos ect, they create unique ways to deliver: example instead of regular soft taco enchiladas, they stack crispy chalupas on top of eachother with goodies smushed in between YUM!
30. Trainon Coffee
I used to go to Trianon all the time for Years. It was owned by an Egyptian man and his lovely family. They ran a lovely business and a great coffee shop. They roasted their own beans, and had great employees and the coffee was wonderful.\r \r Then some people from Colorado came to town and b…
This place has been on radar for more than a year now. The last time I tried to go here, I couldn't even get into the parking lot. Now that I've actually gotten to sit down and eat, I get it.Courteous employees greet you and grab your name for a seat. Once we sat down, our waiter Saul constantly checked on us. He answered the few questions we had and we ordered the Joey Rocha, the Chicharrones, some Menudo, and a Chorizo and egg taco. The carne guisada is tender and moist, but the gravy/sauce it sits in is Heaven. I could eat that alone with the fresh flour tortillas. I wish the chicharrones were crispy but the salsa it sits in makes up for what I wanted. The menudo hit the spot as it was savory and just went down easy. The chorizo bled grease but had so much flavor. No complaints as long as I can sit down and eat.
Dear Family ManThis place is good for a light moment with your wife or partner once in a while may be once in 2 years...bring kids n file bankruptcy. The cakes are cold...stale cream, mediocre assortment and expensive hot n cold bevs. Great place to sit chat relax outside the cafe overlooking the lake. If you like looking at college kids reading, browsing, may be studying, playing card games or simply whiling away their precious time by all means feel free to come and waste your money and time ..... I would rather go to the new whole foods where they have abundant assortment of fresh deserts and are sweet to sample if you are confused. Service is mediocre as well and most young people working here are not well trained on the contents of their deserts.
Kenny's Coffee House is great for getting a bite to eat or a quick coffee - especially for those of us who live in Wells Branch. Their breakfast tacos are great and reasonably priced, but I think La Brissa's tacos are a little better, and they have homemade salsa. I have also tried their breakfast platters, like eggs and biscuits and gravy - it's all pretty good. I like that their coffee is freshly roasted, not shipped in. The iced coffee and espresso drinks I've had have been very good. It's a plus that they have wifi if you need to get a little work done. I do have to say that if I didn't live in Wells Branch, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to visit Kenny's, but it's definitely worth going if you live nearby. Support local biz!
If you like spicy drinks, try the Saigon Morning punch. It's made with fresh jalapenos and definitely has a kick when you drink it (Definitely use the straw or your lips will be burning).
We ordered the Croque Madame and the Huevos Rancheros for breakfast: the former is a local interpretation on a soft fresh bun and it was delicious. The giant side of lame boring fries that comes with it was not worth the calories to consume. The Huevos were very good according to my dining partner. The iced tea was freshly brewed and tasty.
Love this Starbucks location (almost as much as I love Starbucks!). It's always clean and the staff is friendly. I've never had to wait in line very long here and my drink has come out quickly each time. One of my biggest complains with some locations is how understaffed they seem - I don't feel like this is the case at all here.
Our first time and we were disappointed. The waiting area is small and in the bar, which makes it hard for them to keep track of who came fist. (Yes others were seated that had com in after us) Not enough wait staff to keep up with the tables or the food orders. Food was barley warm but we ate it anyway as to not waste food.
Fantastic little gem. Food was great (Migas, Chorizo), homemade tortillas, and FRIENDLY staff. Definitely recommend and will be coming back when we're in town againQ!Fantastic little gem. Food was great (Migas, Chorizo), homemade tortillas, and FRIENDLY staff. Definitely recommend and will be coming back!!!
One word: amazing. Two words: food coma.I'd do it all again though! I'm not one to write reviews regularly, but when I do, it's because I've had an epic experience (good or bad) that I feel compelled to share. And in this case, I couldn't help but chime in on all the love for Kerbey Lane Cafe!
