They are clean and the service is very good. Remember it is a hair shop so expect to see hair. In the 1.5 years I've been having my hair braided b…
With the new owner the shop is lovely. Gloria really knows her stuff and she is super nice. I would definitely recommend this shop to everyone in Ypsi looking for a sew-in, silk wrap or even box braids. They do it all!
When we first got my daughter's hair cut, the stylist did a great job & so her grandmother gave her a gift card for 6 haircuts. We had to go back for a couple of the other cuts to get them tweaked but the place is so close it didn't matter. Then came the 3rd--we were leaving for the beach the next day & my daughter's cut was so awful that she had to wear a hat. We ran to a stylist at the beach & she was appalled at the sloppiness of the cut. When we got back, I called Creation Station & said I felt that she owed my daughter another cut since we had to pay for one. She begrudgingly agreed. Since then, my daughter could never book an appt; whenever she called, the stylist would not call back. I finally tried using a different number to see if the stylist would pick up. She did pick up for a different number but when I asked if we could use 2 of the 3 remaining haircuts for my daughter & an exchange student staying with us, she said we couldn't use the gift card for the boy since the card was for my daughter & "it would be like using someone else's credit card to pay for something." She became more & more uncooperative--saying she would only use the card for my daughter then saying she wouldn't cut my daughter's hair. When I asked what our options were--she won't cut my daughter's hair, she won't give us a refund, she won't use the card for a boy--she said she would have to think about it & hung up on me. The haircuts are expensive ($30) which I wouldn't mind spending if they looked good. (Wish I could have filmed the reaction of the stylists at the beach when they saw my daughter's cut.) Owner is unprofessional. I will never go back there. Fortunately, my daughter's friends have all been warned.
hey my name is prisca nene did my hair i was very happy good people now a go to nene's often second visit i have box braids. other day have senegalese Twist me my sister, and my mother and my best friends we all going to nene's now
I go in to get my hair done and all I need is a simple braiding pattern for crochet braids. You know typical corn rolls going into bigger braids. Tell me why Astou herself is going to tell me over the phone the price is $25, and then when the braiding is done she gone up the price to $40. I'm telling you these people are a rip off! Do not go there! The pattern wasn't even right! You would do better going somewhere else!
Terrible experience, I would not recommend. I made an appointment, and my hair wasn't started until almost two hours LATER. If they were too busy they could have said that and I would have arranged for a different time. The women braiding were extremely rough and careless with my actual hair, no concern with the damage they were causing. Additionally, I was severely over charged for the style. Not worth it. I don't recall the style and prices being posted either, bad sign #1.
Regardless of what people say about this place I've enjoy being here! I moved to ypsilanti back in sepember of 2007 and i have dedicated my services to them for all but one time due to it being crowed! A few of the braiders are heavy handed which makes me have tp voice my concern but when i get lucky enough to get my two favs*still dont know their names to this day* I'm always glad to see them as they are to me! Thanks for being my go to place for almost 10yrs
I was recommended by a friend and I was not disappointed. My hair had a bad curly perm and she fixed it. Now I look like I actually have a curly perm.
They did a excellent job on my box braids, but a college student from out of state stopped in and politely asked did they know were a barbershop was and they just stared at him, never responded. I told him I wasn't from the area and didn't know of any. They only socialize with one another in the native tongue. They weren't friendly at all.
I went to this place for the first time a few weeks ago with high hopes and they were dashed almost immediately after arriving. First, they are a knock off $50 weave shop. Pink walls, inexperienced stylists, price points, receptionists, etc. I was forced to leave and come back in order to get my hair done because they didn't have any sinks installed yet and couldn't wash my hair. After I came back, the braider began to comb through my hair and the stylist informed her (half way through the process) that since she was having a fairly difficult time combing through it that I needed to be charged for a "comb out". However, since I already had to drive ALL the way back to my home to wash it and wore a hat on my way back since it was the middle of winter and in the negative outside and my hair is thick, I don't understand what they expected?? Since the braider hadn't mentioned the "comb out" before she started, I wasn't charged the extra $12 for it, but the stylist whom WASN'T braiding my hair, made sure to inform me that the next time I returned I would be charged for them to comb through my hair. They also had ads/post up on Craigslist to spread word about their salon and in their ad they said that if you came in and mentioned the ad and a coupon, they would give you a coupon for $10 off your service. I mentioned this coupon several times during my visit and was told that they had run out, but would deduct the $10 from my total after the fact. This was never done. I still paid the full total for my services and to add insult to injury, almost charged an additional $12 to comb my hair that they couldn't even wash or blow dry themselves. Next is the stylist, I showed her a few pictures of how I wanted my hair to look and the style I desired and was told that she could do it. I purchased 2 packs of hair and wanted them both installed so that my hair would be full. However, once she was finished my hair looked NOTHING like the photo I'd shown her and she had only used one pack of hair and a few tracks from the second pack. Not only did I mention to her that I was hoping my hair would be a little more full, the braider had even mentioned the same thing if she were in my position. The stylist responded by assuring me that my hair would some how magically thicken up over time and that if I liked, I could come back and add more hair for me for free. As if she were doing me a favor. Lastly, I also had requested to have my eyebrows waxed and shaped. The stylist was also the young lady that performed this task. They apparently had run out of the smaller sized wooden sticks they typically used for the wax and so she used large arts & crafts sticks to do my eyebrows instead. Not only did she take off too much hair, but she removed my arch as well so I was left with two flat lines across my face that were supposed to be my eyebrows. I did tip the stylist because that is the kind of individual I am and I was hoping that she'd have to share it with the braider because SHE on the other hand did a good job braiding my hair and was very nice and polite. I had heard some very negative things about this salon while I was at a nearby beauty supply purchasing the hair, but I wanted to give them a chance. I do regret that decision. The only reason I gave them 2 stars was mainly because of the braider and how polite and knowledgeable she was about natural hair health and the cleanliness of the salon. I will NOT be returning to this salon though and caution those who do decide to. I can't remember the braider's name, but I would recommend her. The stylist's name was Angel. AVOID her.
