Kolberg-Pioneer s tradition of engineering field-proven equipment dates to the late 1920s. The Pioneer Gravel Equipment Manufacturing Company, located in Minnesota, designed and manufactured equipment used by the aggregate industry for building America s highway systems. Over the years, Pioneer expanded the product offering to include products designed for the mining, cement and quarry industries. Kolberg Manufacturing began operations in 1965 in South Dakota, producing vibrating screens, screen plants, portable and stationary conveyors and stacking conveyors. Soon, additional products were added, including classifying tanks, computerized controls, a full line of material washing equipment, portable pugmill plants and silos. Astec Industries purchased the construction equipment division in 1997, restoring the renowned names of Kolberg and Pioneer to the marketplace. The Kolberg-Pioneer facility has more than 250,000 square feet of modern manufacturing capacity under a single roof.
