Brackens Fish Hatchery

Brackens Trout Hatchery is nestled in the mountains of Southwest Virginia. This Former Federal Fish Hatchery was the first trout hatchery in the nation and is one of Wytheville's Historical landmarks, built in 1879. The Hatchery is privately owned and is open to the publid for rainbow trout fishing. The hatchery offers fishing the beautiful catch out ponds 7 days a week, no appointment needed. We also offer stream fishing for a flat fee by appointment only. Tackle is available for your use. A fishing license is not required. Open Year Round.



We also offer Fish for sale or delivery of Rainbow Trout to stock your ponds and streams.
