I took this class with Nancy and Brandy and they were great. The class was very informational and very organized. They are both very professional and will teach you what you need to know so you can be a great phlobotmist, they helped me to relax and feel confident.
I took the class in May and it was only myself and 1 other student. Neither of us has recieved any help finding clinicals and when I asked the school, Nancy basically told me I approached the hospitals wrong and that no other student has had this many difficulties. They are rude and not very helpful. You are better off going to a regular school.
Absolutely terrible time both in class and out! For a mere $1000 you can have a mean lady show you exactly how she learned to "prepare your equipment". Very very very little time is spent on drawing blood. Five days and you may draw real blood twice. Then the "final" where she will FAIL you for setting a band aid on the left and not the right. If you do pass the class don't expect any help finding clinicals let alone a job. And if you call nancy she will belittle you and try to humiliate you. Save your money and go to college!
I took this course last October, and one year later I don't even have a certification, let alone a job. I did wonderful in the course, top 3 of the class. I was told by my instructor Brandi, that the top 3 would be placed into an externship at the completion of the course. Not only was I sent out by myself to find one, I was completely unsuccessful at finding one because every place was lined up with an actual school. I called Nancy and Brandi to maybe assist me in finding something, but no help at all. I was told to just keep trying places, I tried well over 20 places! This was a complete waste of my $950 to not even get a certification because these people couldn't do anything. I wasted my entire graduation money on this place and it has honestly been the worst mistake in my life. I would never recommend this place. If only I could get my money back, but I can't because this program is run by a couple of thieves!
I took this course in 2009 when my husband was laid off. It was one of the WORST educational experiences I have ever encountered. Nancy, when I phoned inquiring about the course, was totally unprofessional. She discouraged me from signing up in the first place, and I should have followed my first impression of her and saved my money. When I arrived at Binson's, the instructor, Brandy, was just going in so I tried to be friendly and she acted like a spoiled eighth grader. She was very mean from the start. I am fairly intelligent, and she did not TEACH anything. She showed us (four students) and expected us to get it and do it. I felt hated as soon as the first class started. The other students could sense the was picking on me, but they were powerless as I was to say anything. Then I decided to try to take some notes, and she said, I need your attention, if you want to tear yourself away from taking your LITTLE NOTES. I decided to give the ch another chance and went to the next class. I had practiced on my fake arm all week, memorizing TAGANTS, and when I did it for caustic ch, she yelled, that's not the way you were taught! IT WAS THE WAY it was taught. So, I told her, I am really not that fast of a learner. You know what she-devil said? I KNOW Nancy told you this is an accelerated course. Maybe you don't know what ACCELERATED MEANS. That is when I left. I only paid 450 dollars for the course, but it still makes me sick that these people can get away with cheating the public out of money when they don't teach anything. They take your money and treat you like . And anyone that writes a good review of this place must be friends with these monsters. This business should not be in business, let alone get any stars. This stupid yp won't let me write a review without giving it a star, so I will begrudgingky put one on.
I took this course with the owner, Nancy as my instructor.. as far as the education goes she defiantly scares you into learning the information. The way that she forces repetitiveness as far as getting your supplies ready and the procure. You defiantly do not get enough practice on an actual arm to feel comfortable during the exam, and later in your clinicals.
That being said, if you are looking for a learning environment where you feel comfortable and safe to learn and ask questions you are barking up the wrong tree. She chose a handful of students in my class on the first day and continued to belittle and berate these students throughout the week... Often times making examples of their mistakes as to embarrass them. She wasn't sweet to the rest of the class by no means, even though some of us were fortunate to not have the bulls-eye on our backs... Also she refused to answer many questions and restated time and time again that we should be paying attention or should have heard/learned the first time and to ask classmates if we need help. Later when students would ask their classmates for help she would scold both students because SHE was the Instructor, not the other students.
As far as clincals go, I had no problem getting mine set up.. I had a location before I paid for my class but the place I did mine had heard how rotten she was. Also, she provides 3 months of free insurance which is a plus (and I hate to admit that there is a plus) but when I called to get that information she began to tell me how she had no confidence that I would do well and not to ruin her "Good Name" there. Which furthered my strong dislike for her. However, I got my satisfaction after obtaining my license and finishing my clinicals :)
Anyways, the moral of what I am getting at is that Yes, you will learn the correct do's and do not's however you will get almost no hands on education as well as the fact you will get no respect. I personally would not go back
I agree this School is horrible all they care about is taking your money. No one would take me for my externship neither. I asked her for help she said keep trying only to be turned down by everyone of there stated labs that take there students. What a joke. I wasted almost a grand as well. They never told us until we already paid our money that we were responsible to find someone willing to take us for our clinicals. I would advice you to look elsewhere. Don't make the same mistake I did.
I can't believe the amount of fawning reviews of phlebotomy Education. This by far was one of the worst experiances I have ever been through. Not only did I throw away almost a grand, but when it came down to the clinical experiance nobody would let me practice at the sights solely because they couldn't stomach the woman who runs this company. I literally went to every place on the clinical sheet given to me by the teacher (owner) of phlebotomy education and was rejected. This class is a joke! She not only enjoys belittling anyone in front of all the students, but she constantly threatens to fail students. I couldn't believe that an educator/buisness owner would treat her paying students like she did. When I talked to the many coworkers from the hospital I worked at in nursing, they had horror strories about this particular women. She has been banned from many notable hospitals in the wayne county area. I have nothing good to say about this establishment, The only shame casted should be torwards the owner and the way she treats people. But hey, what goes around comes around.
Im surprised Susan that you would feel this strongly about Phlebotomy Education Inc...I had the pleasure of taking this class in 2009. I didn't have Nancy as an instructor I had Brandie and was not disappointed at all. I did have a bit of trouble finding a clinical but Nancy was a constant supporter and was always there to give suggestions as to the next step in my finding a place to allow me to do a clinical. After a few months I did find a clinical with a Quest lab. Im wondering if you are just sitting back waiting for somebody else to do all the legwork for you. I am also wondering if you put forth 100% effort in the class. I have been in several of Nancy's classes since I graduated from Phlebo Edu and have never ever witnessed any of the accusations that you have made. No way would she ever stoop to the level you have to hurt somebodys feelings. This was a personal attack on somebody who has the biggest heart in the world and would do anything to see her students succeed. Shame on you!
I am astonished by the awful review about Phlebotomy Education Inc...I took the class back in September and it was one of the BEST things I have done in my adult life.
Was it costly-yes but it was worth every penny. Do I have a job yet? No, but it is because of lack of effort on my part. All the instructors and Nancy herself were/are wonderful ppl willing to go the extra mile to help and encourage anybody willing to ask. It seems as though the person with the negative review has bigger issues than with Phlebotmy Education-try looking a little deeper into ones self and therein the problem may lie.
I have nothing but heartfelt appreciation for Nancy,Brandie and Dana:) You ladies rock!
Susan, I think you NEED to smile! If you think by just paying the tuition you will pass, you’re wrong! You have to earn your certificate. Obviously Susan doesn’t know how to take guidance well. Nancy and her team of educators are extremely professional and very kind. Not one thing that Ms.Smilez said is true. I highly recommend this class if you want a good education!
