General Info
The MEDVET medical center for pets in Worthington. Ohio. Is comprised of TWO health care units: MEDVET specialty practices. For IN-DEPTH care and patient management; and the emergency service (formerly CVES - columbus veterinary emergency service) for immediate medical attention. Working in concert with each other. Each location provides comprehensive care for animals. MEDVET works hard to maintain a leadership position in veterinary medicine. For example. MEDVET offered the first radiation oncology center in ohio to BE directed by a BOARD-CERTIFIED radiation oncologist and was the first facility in central ohio to offer the tibial plateau leveling osteotomy procedure for dogs.

DVM Rude

The staff, vet techs, weekend care staff and receptionists are absolutely AWESOME....the Doctor who treated our sick puppy, was extremely arrogant and dismissive....very curt, on the cusp of being rude at times. He spent a total of 10 minutes with my puppy and me before admitting her. He spent more time reviewing the quote of the costs she would incur while staying in his care than anything else, and less than 5 minutes total on the phone with updates and additional fees during her 4-day stay. After spending well over $3,000 to try save our sick puppy, when we cane in to take her home, he could not make the time to meet with us (even though he was on-site) and left the job of explaining difficult after-care procedures to the vet tech. This was after we requested to meet with him personally but was told he was too busy. Additionally, after examining my lengthy bill, I found many duplicate tests/fees that he ordered that our regular vet had already performed only several hours previous to me taking her to MedVet (it should be noted that I transported all test results when we checked in at MedVet)....Sadly, our puppy died several days later.

We took our little kitty, Buddy, to MedVet last night when he suddenly lost the use of his back legs. We had no idea what the heck even happened. The staff at MedVet were so kind and compassionate. They took him back immediately when we arrived to try and stabilize him. The Veterinarian, Dr. Quigley (I think was his name), was so patient with us in explaining everything so we could make the best decision for Buddy. Although we lost our dear little Buddy last night, I don't think his last hours here on this earth could have been more dignified and peaceful. My husband and I are extremely grateful for the wonderful care our furry little guy received.

I’ve been using the MedVet specialty and emergency services for my own animals, rescue animals, and client referrals for many years. Dr. Barnhart and his staff set the bar so high.

We drive 1 1/2 hours to bring our Mia to receive the best. She has been blessed to be in the care of Dr. Barnhart and Dr. Foss as well as the entire support staff at MedVet. It is without a doubt the most extraordinary facility as it has only the best interest for your pet in mind. I have never ever thought it to be about the cost. Mia continues to amaze us all, her love for life on this earth is contagious and her appreciation for the genuine care from MedVet is seen in her quick steps to get inside to check on everyone. For a dog that shouldn't be moving shows how miraculous this all is indeed. I would highly recommend this facility to any and everyone. God certainly led us there and we will be forever grateful.

Go to OSU. They don't care about your pet, they're only worried about money. They also don't get results back in time. Also, their dermatologist are idiots. You would think someone who specializes in the skin of animals would know what skin cancer is. Charge you 600 for a skin biopsy, tell you it'll be back Wednesday, Wednesday comes they tell you no it won't be in til Friday. Friday comes and the dermatologist is out of state? Really. THEN after finding out our dog has malignant melanoma, they call you and try to sell you a bunch of very expensive options and treatments, for our 12 year old pup who is clearly dying. They do not care about us or our dog they just see it as more money.

My Baby Girl's Second Home

My "little girl" has been a patient at MedVet since she was about 5 months old - she is now 9 years old. At 5 months she started having seizures - my regular vet told me, "Oh, sometimes puppies just have seizures." Even after the 2nd one in about 12 hours, when I took her out to them, they still said they didn't want to start her on any medication because she would have to be on it for the rest of her life, and sent us home. Within the next 12 hours her seizures increased to the point of one Grand Mal seizure about every 20 minutes - at THAT point they finally referred me to MedVet. They took her in immediately, admitted her, and saved her life. She came home on medication, they monitored her closely, and after 2 years on the medication they weaned her off of it - she has been seizure free since that first episode. Over the years, they have saved her life on two other occasions, once with a tumor, and once with an idiopathic immune disorder that attacked her white blood cells and destroyed her platelets - always with love and compassion for both her and me. She has been treated for hip-dysplasia, but they have told me to wait on surgery until she really needs it - as long as her discomfort can be controlled by medication, that is their recommended treatment. They have explained the surgical options that we will be facing down the road. They recognize that she is not a "dog" to me, but my "baby girl." All of the doctors she has seen there, all of the techs who have worked with her, and all of the staff have always been exceptionally caring and patient.

Xena's treatments have been expensive, and they ALWAYS take the time to explain everything to me - they do this NOT because of greed, in fact, quite the contrary. Not everyone considers their pet to be a family member and many people often make decisions on the amount of treatment they are willing to provide for "a dog," or "a cat" on the financial cost. Other folks, who do truly consider their pets to be family members, do not always have the financial resources to provide the necessary care. The folks at MedVet strive to make people fully aware of the cost of treatments so they can make the best decisions for their situation.

I have in the past, and will continue to highly recommend MedVet to anyone whose pet has special needs. We are blessed to have a facility like MedVet in our area. I have met folks there who have had to travel hundreds of miles to find this level of treatment and care.
