We had the misfortune of taking visiting relatives into this store to purchase gifts to take home and for their grandkids. Upon entering we were rudely greated at the door with a offensive, "Can I help you?", not a "How are you?". After that we were made to feel even more unwelcomed by being followed around the store the entire time by the same worker or proprietor of the shop. Everything we touched was immediately straightened back up by the worker and accompanied by a rude sound.
The most offensive thing however was the rude treatment of my children. I understand that some stores may get frustrated and nervous when children are allowed to run unchecked through a store. My husband and do not believe in allowing are children to be disrespectful of others things. Continuing on, my daughter (9) and my son (7) were looking at cowboy boots trying to decide which pair they would like. My husband and I were within touching distance. My daughter proceeded to pick up a boot to show my son only to have the hovering worker yank it out of her hand and told her, "Not to touch anything unless they were going to try it on.". I of course immediately took my children out of the store while telling the worker she should be ashamed of herself and her customer service skills were severly lacking.
I then had to console my two children on the drive down into Manitou Springs. My daugher was crying trying to understand why an adult was so mean to her and my son said he didn't want a pair of cowboy boots anymore; something he has wanted since he rode a horse for the first time. We are from the Colorado Springs area and love to bring our visiting family to Woodland Park. I can say we will never be back to the Cowhand and I am not sure we will bring anymore visitors to Woodland Park. I don't believe in going were your so obviously not wanted. All ended happily though, the grandparents spent 700 dollars on jewelry and cowboy boots at a some wonderful stores in Manitou Springs. We were made to feel welcomed and our patronage was appreciated.
