The following is a list of things that we experienced, and found to be completely unacceptable: My initial request for a basic consultation went completely ignored when I asked a) whether or not you could deal with our particular situation, b) what your pricing structure was like, and c) what to expect in terms of timing. Read: you NEVER told us what the pricing was until AFTER you sent an invoice along with our already-prepared papers. From the very beginning, and on more occasions than I care to count, I emailed asking about the status of not only our refund, but of the filing process in general...only for those requests to be completely ignored until AFTER April 15th. In May, we were finally called because you "couldn't read" the W2s that we had submitted, and asked for us to send them again with several other documents that should have been requested when we initially submitted our paperwork in January/February. We had submitted paperwork for 2015 and 2016, and you only filed the 2016 return, completely ignoring our 2015 return. Again, because we weren't sure what to expect given our new financial circumstances, we kept asking questions like "Are we going to owe? Will we be getting anything back? What about our back-tax situation?". Again, all ignored. We were never informed of ANYTHING at any point during this entire process. As a result, we were surprised when we received an NY state tax return (in AUGUST!), but not a Federal one. Apparently, from the letters the IRS has since sent us, our Federal return went towards paying our back-taxes to MA state. However, when we called the state of MA about this to confirm, they could find no such payment. So, where is this money?!I wish I could give zero stars, this is the single worst tax-filing experience I have ever had in my life. Your service has been painfully incompetent and grossly unprofessional. We are beyond disappointed.
I have to agree with the below comment. My experience with Sattler & Company was extremely disappointing and rather frustrating (to say the least). My returns did not get filed on time or properly and I ended up being penalized a ridiculous amount by the State! Their lack of intentions for their clients is clearly expressed through very delayed responses (i.e. direct messages with the secretary, emails, and voicemails). My overall experience was nothing more than a severely painful headache.
I sent Mr. Sattler my tax return information giving him plenty of time to prepare it prior to the April 15 deadline. Mr. Sattler decided to wait until April 15 to prepare my return despite my multiple requests and reminders. He realized he needed additional information and did not file my return until early May. It's July 31st and I still have not received my Federal refund or my NY State refund. I tried to check online and my return is nowhere to be found. I've reached out to Mr. Sattler but haven't received any response from him. I'm wondering if I'll have to end up hiring another accountant to figure out if my returns were filed at all and to review and make sure they were filed correctly. I regret hiring Mr. Sattler as my accountant and recommend you find someone who at least is willing to answer your e-mails or phone calls and file your returns on time!
