Established in 1997, Northern EMS provides professional basic and advanced life support ambulance services to the people of Windber, Central City and surrounding areas. Located in Windber, Pa., it also provides support paramedic services to a large area of Bedford County. Northern EMS utilizes a fleet of two ambulances which are fully equipped with technologies, such as 12-lead cardiac monitoring, C-PAR and capnography. Its employee strength include advanced life support crew, 25 paramedics and emergency medical technicians who are trained to assess a patient's condition, maintain a patient's airway, breathing and circulation, control external bleeding, prevent shock and prevent further injury or disability by immobilizing potential spinal or other bone fractures.
