Usually I have nothing good to say about budget but one horrible experience is all it takes! I put a truck on reserve weed ago to pick up one way. The office hours are 8-5 got there after 4 pm and they were closed. The person's number on the door never picked up. So I call customer service, they send my info to the "Inventory Manager" who was rude! While waiting on the phone, 5pm comes around and two cars come out from behind the building flying. They hit their breaks, spinning he cars and parking them. One car still had the trunk open while he did a donut. No one paid any attention to me and then they walked back behind the building. Guess that was the employees. The Inventory Manager had the nerve to tell me they don't have a truck available anywhere in Wilmington so what did I want him to do about it. He said they never he a truck for me and that the location was support I advice me. He was not sympathetic or try to correct their employees mistake. He just said "i don't have any truck so what do you want me to do about it? What do you want me to do with your reservation?" Horrible customer service!!!! I am a Fastbreak customer and rent monthly from Budget for travel. I guess I will be finding a new rental company and letting all those I have referred about this experience also. P.S. Thank you Penske for coming to my aid, being extra polite, and helping in anyway possible
Always excellent, efficient and professional. The cars or vans we've rented have been super clean and came with extras like navigation.
Joined Emerald Club, great service, fast, easy. Was upgraded to full size car which was nice for a 6-7 hour drive. Love National! Looking forward to renting from them again.
Always excellent service here. Lots of good reps and Lathem B. is fantastic--- I can't say enough...
The selection was sufficient for a smaller airport and the cars available were of good quality. The attendant at ILM was very helpful when I can concerns about scuffs from a previous rental on the car I selected, which made returning the car stress free. Overall, great rental experience.
We were very disappointed with our service this time. We went online to book our car. We completed all the steps and was given the final cost- so we thought. We paid with a debit card and was told that we needed copies of two current paid utility bills, proof of insurance coverage and copies of paychecks to show that we were currently employed. When I booked the rental online I did not see any of these requests. The information that I saw just stated the forms of payments accepted. Credit card, debit cards, money orders, etc. Nowhere in the that information did it state that additional information was needed. I was pleased with myself because I thought that by booking online I was receiving a good rate. When we finished with the transaction our cost was $80 more that we anticipated for a 2 day rental. The vehicle was for $49.99 per day and with the taxes etc. we were given a cost of $124. When we left the counter we had to pay $204. We picked up the vehicle on Friday morning around 10 AM and returned it on Saturday night around 10:30 PM. I felt that we could have been accommendated more for all the trouble that we went through. I will second guess myself now when it comes to a rental from Enterprise. We may take a different route. Not happy with the service received this go-around.
This is the second time that I have rented a vehicle through the airport I have had nothing but excellent customer service through this location. My vehicle was upgraded for no additional cost and the transaction was swift and courteous. I will definitely be back! Thanks!
No tow dolly at pickup, had to wait until 6pm to get car trailer (which was defective). Charged $150.00 deposit at pickup even though paying with credit card. Charged more for tow dolly even though we were inconvenienced. Guy who works at Wilmington budget may be mentally retarded and I suggest immediate termination of him and their right to rent budget trucks. He didn’t know procedure, didn’t explain new documents, was rude, unhelpful, stupid, and disrespectful. Tire on car trailer disintegrates an hour outside of town. Stopped for gas in florence and gas station mechanic noticed trailer was being held to truck by a flimsy piece of metal. Budget sent out own mechanic and the trailer was deemed broken/unfit for travel by budget mechanic at Florence, sc. Called at 4:30 to report, roadside assistance was unhelpful and rude and didn’t believe problem even though we had the gas station mechanic saying there was. Called local budget rental in Florence at 5:15 to ask about trailer, no one answered, supposed to be open until 6pm. Called Thoroughbred Motors (TM) (the business its located in and he said they had left for the day. So the employee left at least 45 minutes early. TM guy said they had a tow dolly there. So problem could have been resolved by roadside assistance at 4:30 but they chose to ignore good customer service. They are too busy running three businesses out of this place to care very much about any of them.
I received less than 24 hours notice that instead of driving a few blocks to pick up the Budget truck I'd reserved, I would have to travel all the way to Shallotte, 40 minutes from my house. When I stopped by the office to find out why, the woman behind the desk was rude and dismissive. She hadn't had functioning trucks in three days, but hadn't bothered to send out the notice till last minute.Long story short: TERRIBLE service. Avoid this location. I wish I could give it zero stars.
I recently had the unpleasant experience of renting a car from this location. Not only were they out of cars the fist time I tried to pick up but when I finally got the car it was visibly dirty and almost out of gas. Awesome. On top of the condition of my vehicle every employee that I came in contact with seemed like they had a different personality disorder. I was not greeted with a "Hi, how can I help you?" instead, "Returning? Give me your keys." Rude much? When the time came to return my car on the scheduled day the office was empty with only a phone number to call for "assistance". What kind of business closes during normal operating hours? Upon calling customer service I was told "They are picking up cars at the airport and you will have to wait for them to return". So, after waiting 30 mins for someone to show up I was then told the car was too dirty and that I would be fined $50. After I had cleaned the vehicle to spotless perfection I was informed that I would be charged an additional late fee for taking the time to clean. WHAT. Overall a complete nightmare with no redeeming factors. I would go anywhere else before going to Hertz again. Aside from all the ridiculous rules, fees, and conditions I was not treated the way a customer, or for that matter, a human being should be treated. Locals be warned.
