In writing a review I did not want to boast on my personal experiences because there is almost always an emotional attachment to your words. I would rather give a personal observation. To many of us animals become part of the nuclear family and there is nothing we would not do for our family members. Sometimes emotions become entangled in purse strings and resentments are formed and in our minds comparisons are set to human cost. I wanted to look at the reviews as a complete picture to what was being written by others. Sometimes the wisest words come from the minds of the least expected. I have a quote that covers the experience you will receive at Windcrest Animal Hospital. "“You can judge a man's true character by the way he treats his fellow animals.” a quote by Paul McCartney.This is the big picture neither the price nor any plan to lure you in...... there is a compassion that people miss when choosing a veterinarian. This compassion goes beyond anything that is imaginable because the people that become DVM's or Techs have a deep love for animals. Furthermore animal medicine is a bit more complicated because the patient cannot speak. Someone must speak for them. This is what I searched for from almost a two hour drive stretching into Maryland and through Delaware. I found very capable Vets for dogs, cats and cattle but none for exotics. Windcrest Animal Hospital is a compassionate well staffed establishment for the service of veterinarian medicines. Compassion goes hand and hand with empathy and the doctors and staff share your loves and loss in the lives of your pets. Windcrest Animal Hospital was the answer the only place that could take care of my pets. I had been to seven different vets none had the compassion for (particularly in general) my breed of animal. As for office visits the prices are the same in comparison and lower than most. If you have issues with prices I can suggest that you indulge your pet in health insurance through one of the many underwriters available. I did because compassion for my pets is greater than the cost to make them healthy. The staff is a delight as they make you welcome and the waiting time is very short, by the way coffee and tea is available to you as you wait. Anytime you call your calls are returned within a reasonable length of time, with an answer to your concern. I can call today and have an appointment in the AM no problem. I would further recommend and suggest you take your special pet to Windcrest Animal Hospital all their needs including boarding. My own experiences have been bringing my boys to Dr. Anthony Dallatore who I trust whole heartedly and who has all the traits mentioned in this review. I have a cat named Tigger he is 7 years old and my cat wasn't eating much and was acting very lethargic and wasn't holding down water he would vomit it back up! So I took him to banfield and the vet. did a overall check up and felt his stomach and said his stomach didn't feel normal there is something there that they would have to do x-rays to check what it is and some blood work and they wanted to watch him over night so i said ok to it as long as you don't hike the bill up high because i can't afford a high bill! They said not to worry cause they value there customers and will work with me on a payment plan if more has to be done so I said ok that sounds great! Next day I called to check on my cat and they said we are sorry but your cat passed away over the night! I was extremely upset and asked what happened they would not explain to me everything and it sounded like they left out a lot of what went wrong!The bill was very high 1,200.00 dollars and they would not honor a payment arrangement agreement like they said they would in the first place and I'm not paying a dime in the first place since they killed my cat doing something they aren't telling me what they done to him!I currently have an attorney working on the case!they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!My advice avoid banfield pet hospital at all cost: They don't care about animals and they don't care about you as a customer they only care about your wallet!!!Hope my review warns and helps others!
It's difficult to get an appointment, most people at the hospital Doctors and nurses are difficult to talk to.Dental department and Dr Ron L don't pay any attention to you and let teeth decay beyond saving waited 18 months .had to pull 10 teeth ! They never return phone calls ! They now are contracting patients to private dentist BUT won't allow them to treat you and private dentist say they are not paid in some cases ! VETERANS ARE TREATED MORE LIKE WELFARE PEOPLE THEN PEOPLE THAT FOUGHT FOR THIS COUNTRY ! SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE NOT BETTER ! GOD HELP US WHEN THE YOUNG PEOPLE VETERANS NEED HELP ! WILL BE PUSHED AROUND FORM SCHEDULE TO SCHEDULE AND NOT TREATED UNTIL IT"S TOO LATE ! ALL VETERANS WANT IS TO BE TREATED WITH RESPECT ! A LOT OF VETERANS HAVE GIVEN UP AND QUIT GOING TO THE VA BECAUSE OF THE TREATMENT ! YOUR JUST NOT TREATED RIGHT ! WON"T EVEN RETURN YOUR CALLS ! USE ANSWERING MACHINE SO THEY DON"T HAVE TO TALE TO YOU ! SO SAD ! VA NEEDS A NEW LEADER !
rThis is a Horrible place. They do testing without informing you about it and give you medication that is not needed. Save your money and go to Circle Vet or Limestone. Windcrest is HORRIBLE. If you need a hospital, go to Vet Specialty in New Castle.tj;lj;
My experience with Windcrest was one of the worst I could ever imagine. If there is a test that could potentially be done, they will order it. After my first negative experience, I decided to return, giving them a second chance. My dog was having difficulty with his leg and they could not figure out why. I sent his x-rays to a Vet friend in CT and he had cancer. The leg had to be amputated. Had I not contacted my friend, my dog, now 16, would be dead. The desk people were for the majority, not friendly, often rude and accused me of being rude! All of their vets are not certified, so they have a certified Vet sign the prescriptions. Save your pet, save your money and go someplace else. These reviews can be very helpful-listen to them and avoid my nightmare. Tishbud
They are wonderful, very caring and they are great vets, I took my 3 kitties there for surgeries and all went extremely well. I even brought in a stray cat I found early one morning stumbling in the road. I scooped her up and placed her in a carrier I always have with me and just walked into the hospital and explained what occurred they took the stray into the back exam room immediately. I was shocked when they didn't even take my credit card when offered to them. Sadly the cat was in very bad shape and did not make it, they contacted me by phone to let me know . They never charged me a dime for the stray. They truly care about animals.
I have been taking my pets to this vet for years, and they are great. The staff is very caring, and compassionate, and they always greet you with a smile. You can tell they really care about your pets. Their prices are very good compared to some of the other vets I've been to.
Go to Centreville. You will never again have a worry abt Your Pet being in the best Veterinary hands. Have been thier client since 1975, just try to make me stop going here.. As long as this Hospital is Alive, my Pets will all be seeing Dr. Coats & the Staff, Front & Kennel, cannot say enough.
I recently was called about updated information back in March. They had told me to fax them or stop by with my new insurance card. *There was no mentioned of any bill due* at that time. I have a pre-paid Debit account from my employer, so had I known, I would have been more then happy to, as always, take responsibility for services rendered. I had told them I would try to make it in or fax it to them, since I have been very busy with a new job. They agreed this could be updated at my next appointment. On my next appointment, in May, I had showed up late as an important meeting at work had run late and i could not leave until it was finished. When I got there, the receptionist had informed me that my doctor had laft about 10 minutes beforehand after waiting for me. I HAD GIVEN HER my updated card, to even register for this appointment. NO ONE at the time I was there, or speaking with them on the phone had informed me of any BILLS. In fact, they said they didn't know if they would bill me for that SPECIFIC incident, and would let me know based on my doctor's discretion.In June, at exactly 9:00am everyday, during every weekday, I recieved a call from a 800 number. Assuming it was telesales, I had not bothered with these as I was either busy, or the 800 number would not be answered AT ALL if I called back. In other words, if I didn't pick up the phone when they wanted me to, I would be coldly ignored. When you work early, long hours- doing this can be very hard to do. Finally I picked up and it was a very rude, crude and abrupt individual claiming I owed a past due medical bill. When I asked what for, I was crudely told it was not her responsibility to know, and that she can take Mastercard or Visa (without even identifying whom she was). When i would try to probe for answers, she would rudely interrupt and finally say, your account will remain in past due- and hung up on me. When I called C. Counseling, I was told the bill was due from abck in March, when my information had not been updated an d was submitted to collections in June. I asked why no one told or notified me a bill was due, and the response I receieved was - &quot;It is not my responsibility to keep your infrmation updated&quot;, I advised them that is correct, due it IS your responsibility to let me know if a bill is due. After being shouted over and interrupted many time, I paid the bill and hung up. It wasn't until after I went back to my desk and checked my office planner, which clearly stated I had an appointment IN MAY, which the representative at C. Counseling failed to mention while trying to figure out how I didn;t know a bill was due until collections called me. When I called the office back to inquire about this, I was told the woman I spoke to was gone, and that they were just a receptionist, what could they do, and that again it wasn't their responsibility to update information.FURTHERMORE, I SCHEDULED and was GIVEN a new APPOINTMENT CARD for June. So this was in fact proof I was there, and information had to be exchanged to set-up an appoint for June. I cancelled all appointments from them and refuse to do any business with Christiana Counseling directly from this day forward. I said it was an unfortunate and sad way to end such a great relationship I;ve had within them for more then a year.Bottom line is this was deceptive, unprofessional, crude, invalid and legally wrong. I am going to collect all referenced information and seek possibly legal retribution. I am here to prevent any other patioents or customers from being subjected to this type of mistreatment, and experience.
