Don't get your hopes up too much. The hush puppies were either cooked too much(first batch) or under cooked. The Cole slaw tasted old. The catfish was just OK , no seasoning. A little salt andpepper would have done wonders for it. I came here last year and it was the same. I was hoping from the reviews that it had changed. The only thing I would get again was the burger. They should get out of the catfish business and sell burgers and steaks.
We love this place! It is so nice inside and the service is excellent. The food never disappoints. You have to really practice self-control while eating the hush puppies. I could eat my weight in them! My husband usually gets the catfish and I usually opt for the burger, which is one of the best I've ever had. I can't say it enough--this place is a gem!
I can say if ur looking for a clean, nice, friendly, and pretty place to eat u need to go join the most alsome group of ladies/men at Big Creek Lake House... Just a heads up the Ribeye Steak and Loaded Photota and Photota Skins is to die for oh yea the Coco Pie is alsome :-)
I eat here at least once a weekend !! I have tried almost everything on the menu and nothing has disappointed !! One of my favorites has to be the hamburger !! It has bacon and Conecuh sausage ground up inside the patty which just takes it to a whole new level !! The hush puppies and coleslaw are amazing ... Probably the best out of any catfish resturant I've ever been to. The one thing you have to make sure to do is save room for dessert !! Everything is homemade down to the icing on the cakes !! My top favorites would have to be the buttermilk pie and the deep dish walnut apple pie just make sure to ask for a scoop of ice cream on top !! To say the least this resturant has five star food and five star service!! Everyone was so nice an helpful...just down to earth good country people.
The food was pretty good but we were disappointed in the service and price. My husband and I ordered Catfish Fillets and the only option was the "all you can eat" for $13.99. The waitress brought us a small basket of fries to share and 3 fillets to share. She said the kitchen was behind and she would bring more out in a few minutes, she never did. She never offered anymore so we thought that they were still behind. We still got charged for 2 meals when my husband brought this up. He told the worker who checked us out at the door politely that maybe there should be more less expensive options. SO we paid $28 for 3 catfish fillets and fries. The meal also came with hushpuppies and slaw which was brought for the table to share before we ordered. Just think it was way too much to pay for what we got. Next time we want catfish we will head to Cracker Barrel!
We just had dinner today, Saturday, 3/2/2013 one word for their food & service
is Excellent. 5 star food and 5 star service. We are from New Orleans
and my husband is a gumbo connoisseur. This cook really knows how
to cook gumbo. We had the fried catfish and Shrimp combo. The taste
& batter to perfection. If you go, try the sweet baked potato with your meal
and save room for the brownie dessert. Oh yes, the hush puppies were in great supply, not just one or two to a person. Hush puppies come with a
cheese sauce. Very different & tasty. I cannot wait to try the
Rib Eye and a Cheeseburger, so Yes, We will be going back.
We were full, but, could not pass up trying a dessert. Chose the
Brownie. Yum, Yum. However, there were a variety of cake bites.
We felt the prices were reasonable for the amount of food
offered. You will certainly not leave hungry nor will you be dissatisfied.
