I have been going to Capt Georges for years. The ambiance is awesome. The placement and variety of food is awesome. The quality of the food is so wonderful. The Crab Legs were plentiful, juicy, delicious and come with a special Captains sauce if you like or butter or margarine. There was seafood Norfolk, Seafood Imperial, hush puppies (corn bread), salad, many options of sauteed and fried fish, shrimp, spare ribs... so much more. The desserts were fantastic! They even serve ice cream from the bar as an addition to the buffet. I didn´t try it, but saw some come out, they looked yummy. I had quite an appetite going in and completely satisfied leaving. There was a line forming around the building when I left. There were many employees in the building to make my experience happy. The bathrooms were kept very clean. Great place! The price for the buffet is a tad steep, but I still felt like it was a value b/c of the crab legs and house made desserts... oh! the scallops, yum!

Captain George's is a great place for a seafood buffet. They have all the seafood you can eat and at a reasonable price. They must have had a bad day for the food to be bad. I have always enjoyed the food there and recommend anyone to check it out if in Va. Beach.

I heard that Captain George's was the best on the East Coast from the tourist advisor at 19th Street in Va. Beach. I was excited to try it. I tried most of the foods and, other than the steamed crab claws, cornbread, and clam chowder, which were just okay, the food was mediocre.
The steamed clam was like chewing gum. I spit it out. The prime rib and fried scallops were tasteless. Ditto the mac and cheese. The spiced shrimp were small and did not taste fresh. The devilled crab was alot of spice but no crab taste. 8-8-10
Save your money. Compared to this, Golden Corral can really cook tasty food. I am not sure why these folks cannot. And I am a person who can even find good things about hospital food. SAVE YOUR MONEY! The service was excellent but I don't understand how people are raving about this tasteless food. How hard is it to make great mac and cheese???
There really is a lot to choose from, good quality food. The desserts are beautiful and yummy.
It can be a bit pricey for a 'buffet', but this isnt the typical 'buffet' food. You will easily spend $30 per person, but you'd spend that if you went to Red Lobster and had all the offerings you'd eat at the buffet.
Ya gotta try it!

We had a terrific experience at this restaurant. I have live in this Tidewater area all my life and never had a great seafood experience like I did here. All of the food was excellent. Our waitress was great too. She was very polite, on point, and made the dining experience terrific.
Best time at this place. You have to go and check it out.
Don't get me wrong. The foods is good. From fayetteville,nc on vacation, and decided to try Captain George's. The Problems: NO PRICES, SHOULD HAVE ASKED FIRST. For my wife and I to eat along with 2 sweet teas, our total came to $68.19 before a tip. Total $77.19 for a 30 min dinner. They even charge you for another buffet if you end up staying more than 2 hours there....RIP OFF? YOU TELL ME....MAYBE I'M JUST TOO CHEAP. Sorry E-4s in the Army don't make that kind of money. If we knew the price first, we would have went to McDonalds...

I had the pleasure of dining at Captain's George Seafood restaurant on Saturday, March 13th. It was my first time going to Virginia Beach and my first time visiting Captain's George Seafood. We arrived at about 4:00 pm and the parking lot had plenty of cars in it, which turned out to be a great sign. The food is excellent, fresh, very tasty and very good to say the least. We started offf with the salad bar which stretches for days. Then we moved on to sample almost everything on the bar from the crab imperial which was my favorite, to the prime rib, to the aspargus. Moved on to the snow crab legs which were not overly cooked and sweet. Excelent restaurant and can't wait to go back. Even plan on having my birthday party there in June. Highly recommend.
