Bui Eye Care with Dr. Thang Q. Bui

I have no doubt that Dr. Bui is a knowledgeable & competent optometrist in terms of the science. He really seems to know what he is doing in terms of evaluating & explaining vision. My first visit with him went very well and I was pleased with the exam. He does speak loud enough that it will likely strike most as odd. Overall, I was pleased, felt that I saved $$ going to Walmart, and got a knowledgeable doctor. However, on my second visit with him, the following year, I had an extremely negative experience. I would never recommend him because of his hostile & rude behavior. He had me shaking & crying during the entire exam, because I could not tell him what kind of contacts I wanted and he went into an unprovoked, angry rant over how he has to pay for the samples he gives out & that people try to tell them how to run his business. It was the most bizarre and unprofessional experience I have ever encountered. His staff apologized, though he seemed to have no concern over upsetting a patient and completely losing his composure. I left very shaken, blurry eyed, AND with a contact that was the complete wrong prescription in one eye. I could have had a car accident on the way home. It was the middle of the day and I had to go home and go to bed! The next day I had to go back into his office to get the one contact corrected and I was actually afraid to see him.

It's been a couple of months since I was there...and I am still appalled enough to report this incident. I have never given a bad review to anyone before. It was an abusive experience that left me physically ill. I will be going back to a higher end provider in the future.

I hope that Walmart customers don't think this is how a Dr should treat a patient. I wonder if Walmart vision patients get treated this way routinely? Truly horrendous experience.

Dr. Bui is a great optometrist. He's very thorough and makes sure you understand everything about your eyes. He's very accurate about what vision you need. Dr. Bui isn't in my insurance as preferred provider but I'd rather pay to go to him than see someone else. I've always been very pleased with my experience with him and his office staff.
