Marketplace Cafe

In the women's shoe department, I picked up a Coach Loafer (my size) and tried it on to make sure that it fit. I then asked the salesperson, a white-haired older man in a dark pinstriped suit if he could get me the mate. He apparently didn't want to bother, unless I was sure that this was my size. I told him that it was and after five minutes or so he returned with a box. He was headed for the check out, when I said I needed to try on the other shoe. He actually made a face! Who buys a pair of shoes without trying on both? He offered no assistance in trying on the shoe, handed me the box and walked away. The pair fit and I liked the shoes. I walked around looking at other shoes, with the loafers in hand. This salesman approached and said he would hold them at the register. Apparently he wanted credit for this sale, even though he had done little but display a rude and haughty attitude. Five or ten minutes later, he approached me and asked if I still wanted these shoes, because someone else was interested in them. I could not believe this man and said yes I did, but was not ready to purchase yet. He actually rolled his eyes. In the end, I did not purchase any shoes at this store, as I believe that Nordstrom salespeople work on a commission basis. In my estimation, this would have rewarded his bad behavior. Nordstroms has a large variety of really good looking, high-quality shoes, but so do a lot of other good stores. When I shop, I at least expect courteous treatment from the people who are suppose to be helping me!
