Founded in 1941, Gulf Coast Electric Cooperative provides electric power services. Based in Wewahitchka, Fla., the cooperative provides electricity across Bay, Calhoun, Gulf, Jackson, Walton and Washington counties in Northwest Florida. Its customers include both residential and commercial establishments. It generates electricity through various plants including geothermal, steam and hydroelectric plants. Gulf Coast Electric Cooperative also offers emergency services. It is a part of Touchstone Energy and is also a member owner of Alabama Electric Cooperative (AEC).
