They really need to update facility. And the poor animals do not look like they are well taken care of. I wish I could adopt them all!

Picked up a cute 3 month old Shepherd mix on the 27 JAN 17. Over the weekend he just got sick. Emergency vet today and find out the puppy has parvo and upper respiratory infection. Canine parvovirus is a highly contagious virus that can affect all dogs, but unvaccinated dogs and puppies younger than four months old are the most at risk. So now instead of $100 rescue dog, he will cost close to $2000. Truth be known I could of bought a healthy pure bred german shepherd puppy for far less. New owners beware.

We came in and adopted a pet and when we took him home he became ill the very next day. He was rushed to the Animal clinic in an emergency because he was throwing up wheezing having difficulty breathing , diarrhea and not eating anything anymore or drinking any water. he was laying around looking like he was on death's door . tried to call them and they are obviously screening their calls and saw my number pop up and didn't pick up the phone ever. we tried to comment to them on their page on face book and they blocked our comments after our initial comments were posted. They are horrible people that do not care about their animals. and it is dirty and smelly and full of feces in the puppy pens. they do not vaccinate them when they come in but give them a rabies shot when they are going out . I know they knew he was sick already because they said bring him back 5 times before we left if he got sick after we got him home. they knew he was sick!! the other puppy in the cage with him on Monday when we first saw him was very lethargic and sick also. People need to know about this shelter and do not get a pet there. also they were laying on a piece of tin. There were no blankets or anything comfortable in there . all three dogs had to share the same piece of metal for a bed.

Elmore County Shelter should show respect and compassion to the people who are bringing in lost or abandoned, scared and neglected animals, because these people are the ones who care enough to help and not just look away. These are people who take animals in, feed them, care for them, look for their owners and at last resort, take the poor animal to a shelter, a place for refuge until hopefully they can be adopted by an animal loving individual. Animals are God's creations and deserve so much more than most humans are willing to give to them for their short time here on earth. It is the desire for the person bringing in the animal to your shelter to feel and see that same love that they have for animals in the people that work at the shelter. We should all have the same goal, just to help in any way that we can to save the life of these precious animals. It's all for them, it's all about the animals. August 18, 2015
