Kim Prehn ,the owner of Unique Jewelry is also a Goldsmith/Platinumsmith/Silversmith. Kim has been creating jewelry since 1980 when she left the Marine Corps & found her creative outlet in a little store in 29 Palms, California.Kim takes great pride in also being able to repair your treasures or create new treasures from older jewelry you are bored with.Kim Prehn has been in this location in downtown Westminster Maryland for over 15 years and you will find such a tremendous selection of jewelry, vintage jewelry unique gifts and art that it will take a couple of visits to see everything. Kim has over 25 years experience as a jeweler / goldsmith and has created many of the pieces on display.Unique Jewelry provides an inspection & cleaning of our Customer's jewelry at no Charge.We also will provide engraving or soldering for free for any charm we sell our Customers.Any engravable Giftware we sell is also engraved free of charge.Kim will also create custom jewelry and specializes in Victorian and Edwardian antique reproductions.         Overall

        Incredibly disappointed with the owner of Unique Jewelry and her repair service. Took my pearls to her the first time for restringing. HUGE Fail as the clasp had not been included in the restringing - really? Evidently, her employee had done it and she hadn't checked it. That should have been my first clue.



        Since the clasp was a double clasp, I decided to have a shorter set of pearls included since the original had to be restrung anyway. The owner assured me that it would be done by her and done correctly. Well, she strung the smaller set of pearls at the bottom of the necklace. Second FAIL.



        So, try and try again was my motto - shouldn't have been. Finally got them right the 3rd time. They lasted for about a month before they broke - the whole string broke. Dead in the water.



        Now, I took them back and was lectured about how one shouldn't wear pearls in the shower. I also wear them to the gym, etc. My mom wore the original set for FORTY years without a fail. I wore them 5 years before they broke. She restrings them and they last, oh, a month. HUGE FAIL!



        Not only that, she was incredibly unprofessional while denouncing my wearing the pearls every day - totally rude.



        Avoid at ALL costs. Sadly, we were going to get our wedding rings there but, um, couldn't pay me to get anything from her store again.



        Disgusted.

        Lots of unusual jewelry . From gold & diamonds to silver & colored stones. Feature individual artists as well as local artists. Do expert repair & custom work in the store . Friendly & extremely knowledgable.
