Attitude for Sale

This was the first time my family went for portraits. JC Penney's Portrait Studio was recommended to us by a friend who had a great experience with the Portrait Studio in the Cottonwood Mall. Unfortunately, our experience was far different.

We wanted to get pictures of our four-month old daughter and some of the family together. We had a few props and a couple of outfits we wanted to use. We called two weeks ahead of time and set up an appointment on a Saturday morning. Although I asked a few questions about what to bring, the instructions were rather vague. (We were not told only one outfit change was allowed, for example.) When we arrived at the studio, the photographer seemed tense because the appointment before ours hadn't yet shown up. She hurried us into the studio and began setting up and snapping pictures without even asking us what we wanted. My husband had to stop her part of the way through to tell her we wanted some of our props used. She seemed very irritated that we interrupted her. She also snapped at her coworkers and was generally very rude.

When we saw our pictures, we purchased far fewer than we would have otherwise because they were imbalanced and poorly arranged. I am an amateur photographer and can do better than that! We decided we'd be better off next time saving our money to invest in a digital SLR camera to take our own pictures at the pace we would prefer.

In short: if you're going to spend the money for good portraits, don't waste your time and money here.
