Having had my 2 year old Yorkie cut and groomed at various pet groomers, I have never really been happy with the way it had been done. That is until I decided to make an appointment at Abraxas. Both my husband and I were highly delighted with the results. Needless to say we have been regular customers since. I would not hesitate to recommend Abraxas in West Jordan to any perspective pet owner who wants 1st Class service for their pet especially with Kim, as all work is carried out to a highly professional standard

The staff at Abraxas are so good with the bullterriers. They treat them just like they were family, well they almost are with as much as we travel. We are always greeted with friendly smiles and delighted with the condition of our pets! We wouldn't go anywhere else!

I'm honestly shocked that anybody would have anything negative to say about Abraxas! We take our Yorkie and Shih-tzu to Abaraxas at least twice a year to be groomed and while I haven't boarded them, I would certainly trust them as they care just as much for my dogs as I do! We've taken pets to other groomers and had horrible cuts, depressed dogs and even cuts and razor burn as a result. We've always had our pets returned to us as cute as can be (despite our fireball shih-tzu being a handful!) and very happy. I wouldn't trust anybody else with my little dogs!

I took my dog here for the first time this weekend. The facility was very clean. The employees seemed nice. My mother went to pick up our dog because they told us check out time was 10:00 and we would not make it back by then. First, they brought her the wrong dog. When she said wrong dog, they were rude about it. They tried charging her for an extra day and told her she could not use the $10.00 off coupon for first time customers saying we'd been taking our dog there for almost a year! We had NEVER been there!! They sent her home with the wrong blanket for the dog. When we got back in town we went over there to exchange beds. At that point we find out they change kennels every night to get a new view. They did not even move his bed. She said that if we had put his name on it, then they would have moved it. Wouldn't you think they should have said that before we left the dog so we could put his name on it? They did not apologize for our problems and when my husband said he was unhappy and would not return, get this...she laughed!!! And she was the owner! Talk about horrible customer service! I will not go back and I will tell others! There are many better places out there!

This was the second time I boarded my dog at this kennel and when I picked him up he was shivering. The first time I boarded him here was in mid October when I guess the weather was warm enough that he wouldn't get ill. I have a small poodle and was told by staff that small dogs would be kept inside. While the small dogs are kept ""inside"" it is not temperature controlled or put at a very cold temperature. My dog now has a serious ear infection and was very traumatized and whined for thirty minutes after we picked him up. I was extremely disappointed with the service and poor care this time around. I will not take my dog back.

I'm very surprised to read the review above. I've been taking my dogs to Abraxas for almost 4 years, and have always been treated with respect and professionalism.
In fact, on my second or third visit, there was some crossed communication between me and a staff member. When the owner and the rest of the staff found out, they bent over backwards to make it right.
When I leave my dogs at Abraxas, I know that they are in a secure environment, being cared for by professionals - not by some random person who may or may not know anything about dogs. Moreover, one of my dogs is a rescue who had been badly abused and was very shy and fearful around strangers. II would not be comfortable leaving her in 9 out of 10 kennels in the valley. However, when I leave her at Abraxas, she actually GAINS weight - she's become THAT relaxed there!.
The staff at Abraxas is extremely competent, caring, and very, very good. I simply wouldn't choose to board my dogs anywhere else. And, I'd like to point out, that I live just below the Avenues, and willingly drive to West Jordan instead of using a kennel closer to me.
The only thing I can imagine is that there has to be another side to this story, as I CANNOT imagine this incident occurring in exactly the way it's been described.
We have left our Yorkchon over Thanksgiving break with Abraxas. I was so unhappy and angry so wanted to wait a while to leave review.
When the staff brought up our puppy she had poop stuck on her bum. Staff gave us a tissue to get the poop out but it wasn't coming off so easily. It was Monday morning before work so we were in a rush and headed home straight away.
After coming home, we gave a bath to our puppy and realized there were 3 layers of poop. Outer layer was so hard it was similar to her 2-3 days old poop, and then another 2 different layer. I was very angry instantly thinking the puppy weren't taken care for 2-3 days at all.
Once we got the poop out, her bottom was stretched and bleeding. – The outer layer was stuck to her hair and there was no way she could have snapped it off as it was 3 layers. I was in tears and angry at both Abraxas and myself for ignoring the existing bad reviews of Abraxas on google and other sites.
After cleaning her bum and putting some medication on, we realized she lost so much weight that all I could feel was bones.
Her attitude had changed completely. She became so much timid but not in a good way - in a very sad way. Every time she fell asleep, she was having nightmares. She lost her playfulness and bubbly attitude; becoming very clingy.
We went to the vet and the medication and visit cost us $200 - it could have been even worse if we have left her longer with Abraxas.
I just wanted to highlight that please do not ignore the negative reviews on Abraxas. They are real and animals shouldn't be treated the way Abraxas treated our pup.
I understand Thanksgiving is a busy period and many pets are being checked-in. However as a service provider, making sure pets are eating and being healthy should be the least they could do.
I will never ever check my pet in with Abraxas ever again and I hope no one else does given what we have experienced.
It took our puppy 2 full months to get back to the normal stage.
This was a terrible place with dogs outside in the snow and a stench so morbid any pet owner should turn right around a run! An appointment had been set to groom the cat - the front door elderly woman was incredibly abrupt and disrespectful and amazing unhelpful. The lady in scrubs didn't say hello but instead stated everything they wouldn't do rather than confirming the grooming appointment and telling me by what time the cat would be ready to pick up. Upon leaving, the ragged frayed chain link fence (pictures taken) tore a huge hole in my shoes to which the management told me the owner would immediately be in touch. This of course didn't happen until several calls and reminders days later. Upon picking the cat up nothing had been done to satisfaction or specification and they overcharged my credit card as an additional stab in the back. The call with the owner days later consisted of them failing to admit guilt, offer any form of compensation and merely stated "too bad" when the question was posited on what they could do - to at least fix the broken gate. I fear that people are being ripped off, treated poorly and are going to a place that is unfit for any animal. What a horrible place.
