Beware the WeHo Bandito.



The City of West Hollywood was founded to protect the renters’ rights of its most vulnerable, low-income and elderly residents. Over the years, however, it has given way to Beverly Hills-style developers and seems more interested in lining its pocks than protecting its residents. Today, 12.9% of the City's revenue comes from writing parking and traffic tickets and seizing property. They have removed from general public use, virtually all street parking, and continue to eliminate available parking to drive up private parking rates and increase parking ticket revenue. New development provides less than needed parking so developers can increase their profit margins at the expense of straining public facilities. The city is in near gridlock every day of the week. Realistic public transportation is not even on the drawing board. And with rents some of the highest in the nation the city is ghettoizing as more and more people are cramming into smaller and smaller spaces to live -- meaning there are a growing number of cars with nowhere to go, except for driving in circles.



If you choose to live in the City of West Hollywood, or try to visit -- and are able to find a parking space -- expect to pay mightily for the insult this city WILL bestow upon you. They always find something. (Remember to curb your wheels!)



Other notes: The City will lose your paperwork if you try to contest your parking ticket. Big brother is watching with cameras to issue tickets at most of the major intersections. The ONLY parking structure the City has ever built was for the primary use of City employees. Once you are ticketed, be sure to leave it on your windshield, because the parking Nazi’s will reticket you again within 20-minutes. And the Sheriff’s will arrest you without cause to dig through your car to look for reasons to impound and sell it.



This is the most unfriendly, unwelcoming, greedy city I know of.
