Great place for high-octane, booze infused fun on the weekends. Saturday and Sunday afternoons are particularly hoping and are almost a little too over the top for me, LOL. Yes, drinks are pricey but one apple martini is enough for me to have to leave my car parked across the street and take an Uber home.

Gay Bar

I was shocked about gay thingy attached to the place, but changed my mind quite fast. Great overall feeling, various drinks, and comfortable to stay a while. I hope I'll find myself on Abbey' s door steps again. Cheers!

Perfect for a sunny day in Southern Cali...

A great place to bring any friends on a sunny Sunday afternoon. (I had to pick SOMEWHERE for a first review on this website... might as well be the Abbey...). Now excuse me while I go back to lacking a social life on a Friday night.

I am proud to say I am have created myself career, and a lifestyle that I enjoy doing. And I will continue to do it for whoever, whenever someone needs true advice, guidance from a Psychic they can trust, and most importantly a friend they can also can count on in those times of need, when it seems friendly, family, and hope has failed. Well its still around

Since the Abbey expanded several years ago, the space has gone through quite a change. I personally LOVED the fact that it got bigger. Unfortunately, like lots of WeHo, the riffraff came with it. Now I shudder when I go to the Abbey. Its been taken over by WAY too many FagHags who cant handle their liquor. Gay boys should have to make a deposit at the door for every hag they bring along, to cover the costs of their idiocy and the drinks they spill all over everyone. I started off with 2 stars, but gave another, because the staff (all great people) and the DJ's (stellar, imho) really do make this a standout bar. Too bad the bridge and tunnel ruin it.

Great Food...Great Atmosphere

I took my mom with me the first time I ate here and we were both impressed with the food, the service and the atmosphere. The hot tuna sandwich was amazing and mom cleaned her bowl of shrimp alfredo! Will definitely recommend to friends!

An All Day Affair

The versatility of the Abbey is one of its best assets - where else can you go to enjoy a nice and quiet breakfast in the sun, and then later in the night go out dancing and drinking? But don't think that their mojitos are the only thing worth getting (though they are quite delicious), their food aint so bad, either. They serve a typical American menu with typical American portions (huge), along with amazingly delicious deserts from Sweet Lady Jane.

Pretentious, obnoxious, and superficial

I love the old coffee-house Abbey when staff and patrons were themselves, unique, self-secure, polite, friendly, and cordially beautiful people. That was then...Now, it's filled with entertainer-wannabes, all mingling around, trying desperately to be somebody else, to look 'hot', to compete for attention, to check and be checked out by their clones, while hoping they will attract the real deals by the end of the night. And I am not just talking about the patrons. The attitude of the bartenders also make my head spins.

The crowd bored me to tears. Sorry!!

really good food

this place has really good food for a bar, the drinks are what you expect, but they have a really nice menu and a $5.00 happy hour (the best time to go) this is a great after work food and drinks place

Hollywood Attitude Found Here.

I find this place so incredible that it remains such a destination, with a staff that couldn't care less to serve you. On several visits we have sat down or sat at the bar and were completely ignored for as long as 20 minutes. I can't believe a bar tender would be so blind to future tips! I would excuse this if the place was packed with patrons, but it was the early dinner hour. Obviously, this review will not keep the masses away, but hopefully a manager will see this and take note. A smile goes a long way! Especially in this town.

Overpriced, overcrowded and Not Good Quality

Much better choices in the area, the only reason this place survives is it's location and outdoor area- food and drinks are overpriced. Food quality is poor and presentation is pretty boring...

Going down hill Fast

I have been going to the abbey for years now and had always been a big fan until recently. I am not sure what changes have taken place but the Abbey has really gone down hill. We took a friend their for her birthday and we had the worst service. They brought dirty plates with our food and didn't even apologize. To top things off we found a plastic lid to a disposable cup in our birthday girl's drink. Once again, they didn't apologize at all. They wouldn't comp the drinks, were rude about the entire situation and practically ruined her birthday experience. we all decided to just leave the rest of our drinks (which aren't cheap at the abbey) and cut our losses. Not sure if it is b/c it was taken over by SBE or what, but that place is HORRIBLE now.

Not Into the Club Scene

With that said, I don't like many of the people that club here but the drinks are not bad considering its West Hollywood. (The Guys here can fix a martini but not a whole lot of anything else) The place is always jam packed but you can smoke here.

Packed on weekends! ...Even on Sudnays until late at night

Karaoke nights are every Sunday here. When it gets later patrons are daring enough to enter the stage and deliver a vibrant performance --after having a few drinks of course. Otherwise the place is packed with homosexuals, straight women and couples who come here for the nice atmosphere. Be aware it is getting packed when the night draws on and I wouldn't recommend to wear flip flops--Ouch!

Big change

I get to LA every 2 or 3 months and The Abbey used to be my best place to hang out with friends while Im there on biz from NYC. I was really surprised on my last visit to the bar, on Monday night, and the transformation of what it used to be one of the best bars in West Hollywood was shocking. It feels really different now, annoying show and even people look strange and with a rude behaviour. I asked my friends and they told me the Abbey has new managment or ownership and that might be the reason of all the recent bad changes. Really bad taste guys!!!!, you should do something about it. The only pleasent image remaining there: the charming and cute bartenders who worked since many years ago and make me feel like family. Thumbs up for them!!!! As far as the new improvements with shows and all that, very bad taste I should say. Lets get back to the gentle and great atmosphere the abbey used to have not long ago. Im sure you dont want to be categorized as another West Hollywood bar, you want more than that.

Used to be the place to go....

I used to go to The Abbey every Monday night with my friends, last night was our last. ... Was a nice place to be, relax, have a dinner and cocktails. Now it become like any other bar Weho, it looks like Rage or Fiesta Cantina. They have the trashiest show. If you can, avoid The Abbey on Mondays night. I think they have a new management ?

Karaoke night :-(

For many years the abbey used to be the place to go. Recently a new karaoke concept was introduced on Sundays and is making all loyal clients not to visit again.
Please be aware that Karaoke is not for a place of the caliber of The Abbey. This need to stop. Is atracting a very getho class crowd and its becoming unvisitable.
What a shame. :( I guess that the money that me and my friends spend there every weekend will be worth it somewhere else.
