The food and the people watching were spectacular.Talking about visually, this place is decorated in all white with real rose petals and tall gothic looking candles on our table. can't say enough good things about Sur. I have been there on a few occasions (most recently my birthday - party of 13). You can't get ambiance like this anywhere in LA.
the food is amazing, the raspberry mojito is unreal.
not as expensive as some of the other 'high-end' restaurants in hollywood, and totally worth the money. i highly recommend it!!!
I couldn't wait to try this restaurant, after seeing it on the hit Bravo show Vanderpump Rules. Peter was our server & did a great job. The food & cocktails were delicious. Can't wait to go back!
So of course I had to visit because I'm addicted to Vanderpump rules! It truly exceeded my expectations ! Booking a reservation thru open table was a snap... The service was outstanding! The atmosphere was stellar ... The fresh flowers, white tablecloths and candles made all the difference! The music was spot on! One of the best restaurants I've ever been to! Cheers to SUR!

Disaster is being polite.
Went with some industry friends on a Tuesday night intending to get some drinks at their bar/lounge. The guy working the door, Brian, had a major attitude problem as if he was working the door at the hottest place in LA. Fyi, it's NOT! And there was absolutely nobody waiting outside either so it must be the best kept secret in town. Perhaps he was just unhappy that we didn't recognize him from his extra work on (INSERT INDEPENDENT FILM HERE). He tried to insist that we could only go in if we bought a table, while a few scantily clad (not even remotely attractive women) literally walked right in during our conversation.
We've gone to way better places and never had an experience like this prior. We ultimately decided to go elsewhere rather then waste another minute of our time haggling with this loser. If this is any indicative of their other employees, they have a lot to learn in terms of customer service. Unfortunately you never get a second chance to make a first impression. NEXT!

Wow - what a disaster!
This place is worse than school food.
Went here with my b/f and another couple - from the moment we saw the scantily clad waitstaff wearing nothing more than a screened teeshirt with Lisa sitting on her throne (Lisa of Beverly Hills Housewives - the one everyone hates) we should have run but alas, we were in for a rough night. Were sat at a table that was beneath some giant urns that kept crowding us. The waitstaff kept bumping our table which was making our drinks dangerously tipsy. The appetizers were mediocre (goat cheese balls, dumplings, crab cakes) but the entrees - YIKES!!! My B/F's steak (if you can dignify it by calling it meat) was like eating an old shoe. The brussel sprouts were doorstops. My pasta was nearly raw. The other couple had salmon and I could smell the scent of the fish from across the table - god bless them for even trying to eat it. There was no use to send things back because after looking around at other tables, everyone else was in the same boat. My 6 year old niece can cook better than this! The desserts were the best part - a 4 on a scale of 10 - blackberry cobbler, crepes and key lime pie. They were very average - Lisa should have just bought some desserts from the Cheesecake Factory. We couldn't wait to leave - even the chairs were horribly uncomfortable (Lisa should learn to shop at Target). Sur is a sad, sad representation of restaurants in LA. Eat here only if you really don't feel like eating at all.

Took my husband for dinner on Saturday. Lisa and hubby as we sat next to us. Table is actually bistro size, so very tight.Never asked if we wanted a cocktail etc. When the waitress finally came over she took our food as well as drink order, no lie, within 4 mins our food was on our table, drink came 10 mins later. never cam back to see how everything was, my chicken basically a hockey puck with sauce poured over it, my husbands drink was wrong he finally took it to the bar to have it replaced. Complained to waitress, she didin't care and stated so, spoke to manager , apologized. I only paid for the drinks as that was all I was going to pay for. Vents in ceiling are filthy as well as restroom mirrors 2 inch of dust, needs a good cleaning and revamping. Terrible

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at this LA fantasy decoration romantic uptempo restaurant last night. We are well traveled and laid back South Bay people, so it was fun to enjoy the energy of this good looking restaurant. We cannot understand the negative reviews about Sur and its glamorous staff - as we received great, personable and attentive service throughout the entire evening. Maybe it's the attitude and expectations of the unhappy reviewers who create a negative experience for themselves?
We were early for our reservation, and so handed our bottle of champagne to our host who took it away to keep it chilled for us. We had a drink in the cozy little bar, listening to happy people with international accents. We could have been back in Italy, or somewhere along the Cote d'Azur. Soon we were escorted to our table in the middle dining room. Tables are packed in, but it works, as the decibel level is so high that one can easily have a private conversation without feeling that the couple next to you is listening to every word. One of the highlights of our evening was our wait person, Kristen - one of the nicest, warmest and most personable restaurant people we have ever had. She was very pretty and animated and down to earth all at the same time. She made us feel very welcome and at home. The other 2 ladies that assisted her were also very personable and friendly. Overall our food was good, with the Chilean Sea Bass absolutely outstanding. The blackberry cobbler was the other great food highlight.
We had a really nice time and will definitely go back!

I have to say I am so excited to find such a beautiful restaurant that treats guests with such gratitude and utmost respect. I took my mom here and we were both treated like princesses, with incredible service and beautiful presentation of fine dishes of exotic aromas, textures and flavors. Muy delicioso! Thank you, SUR. Will be visiting again soon! Ciao.

I usually don't write reviews online, but after my experience at SUR last night, I was compelled to do so. I had planned a very special dinner for a dear friend's Bach-ette. 10 ladies ready to celebrate and have a great time. I had been in contact with Nathalie who is in charge of private parties since I decided it would be best to have a pre-set menu. We agreed on the terms and our menus were set. Upon arriving our table was ready and very beautifully done. That's when things took a turn for the worse. According to our agreements, we were supposed to have 4 appetizers for the table to share, 1 Entree per person and 1 dessert. The food was fine. Nothing to rave about, and nothing horrible to comment on. The portions are very generous, that's a plus I guess. We ordered lots of drinks, wine, etc and were having a lovely time. THEN..... comes the bill. They charged us for the apps which was not what we agreed to. I went back and forth with a very rude manager who proceeded to tell me that I was making a mistake and that the apps were additional. Nathalie was not at the restaurant herself, so I asked the manager to call her. Once I got on the phone with her, she completely tried to make it seem like it was MY fault and that I had made a a mistake. We went back and forth for about 10 minutes and which point she said that I had misunderstood and that there was nothing she could do!!!!!! WHAT THE ##$%$#@!??? We were totally screwed and they have no idea how to run a good restaurant. The concept of having customers leave happy and satisfied means absolutely nothing to them I want to make it clear that this was not about the money. It was principle. We agreed on terms and then last minute she changed everything around. I am NEVER going back to this horrible place and I would urge anyone who is considering visiting SUR to take your business elsewhere. Not worth it at all.

Wow, Wow, Wow, By far the most amazing restaurant I have ever been to. My sister who happen to be best friends with the owners told me to go check it out. My fiance and I went and asked for the owners and they gave us an awesome table. While they were getting our table ready we had a drink at the bar.
Once at the table we had the most amazing food and the service, out of this world.
The design of the restaurant was to die for and the music was amazing.
The owners are the nicest people I have ever met.

My new husband took me there on our Wedding Day after eloping at the Beverly Hils Courthouse with our 16month old...It was beautiful the food was absolutely excellent, and the service was very nice it was surprisingly descently priced (alot less than I thought a place like that would be) Also we got there for an early dinner so there weren't too many people it was more quiet and romantic but when people did start showing up, luckily LOL they turned up the good music which was good with the little one getting ancy.

We had dinner at Sur Restaurant while on vacation recently in LA. We were fortunate enough to be seated on the patio which is really beautiful. The food was great. We had the goat cheese appetizer along with the steamed chicken and shrimp dumplings, both of which were fabulous. The server was friendly and made great recommendations including her wine choice. I would highly recommend this place.

I had heard such great such great things about Sur, that I was so looking forward to my visit. My wife and I are foodies and restaurant snobs. We went a couple weeks ago for teh first time with our friends before attending a show and we had the best time. We were seated right away and our waitress, Pandora, was so beautiful she could have been a supermodel. In fact all the waitresses were not only beautiful but genuinely nice, attentive and considerate to the fact that we had to get out of there on time. I ordered the Sea Bass which was amazing, cooked to perfection. The Pino Grigio our waitress recommended was exquisite. The dining room is absolutely beautiful. It was one of the first warm nights we were getting in Los Angeles so we sat outside. The fresh breeze , the flickering candles, and the intoxicating aroma is so magical you almost feel you are in a movie or have traveled back to some romantic time and destination. I could not wait to go back again. So we went back again tonight. The food both times was amongst the best we have had. And the desert was ourof this world. The service was friendly, warm and very professional. I will definitely come back a few times this summer and would love to try everything on the menu. The food reminds you of an authentic European restaurant ( if your mom was the Chef). Beautiful people, beautiful food, beautiful Celebrities ( we were sitting next to them). I am addicted.
Beautiful restaurant. Our waiter had a bit of an attitude which we overlooked because this place just makes you want to have a good time. The spicy shrimp soup had zero spice was lukewarm and tasted a little like Cambells. I ordered the blackened chicken entree which was fabulous but my veggies on the side were undercooked. The wild salmon entree was perfect. I would definitely go back and hopefully get a different waitress or waiter and steer clear of the soup.
Took my boyfriend here for his birthday. To my surprise we were the only straight couple on the patio. The atmosphere was beautiful, the decor inside was very romantic. The sangria was the best I've ever had. Everything was great, except for the fact that they allow smoking on the ""enclosed"" (it had a roof and four walls) outdoor patio. Some people started smoking right when we were finishing our meal and when I asked the waiter if they were allowed to smoke there, he said ""yes because it was on open patio."" I wish I would've known that ahead of time so I could have eatten inside, smoke free. We quickly left after the smoking started.

it has an alarmingly-ambiatic & very hauntingly-romantic decor, w/ tons&tons of candles (& central a/c to accomodate for the excess heat emitted by all those candles) everywhere, w/ what has to be the most attractive group of wait staff we'd ever seen at any other restaurant (and we've been everywhere) in town or out of town. the food's nothing to talk about, but you go there for their killer-ambience, the choice selection of their music playing in the background (which actually heightened being there) , and to be served by their super-friendly/LA model-actor wait staff. key word: ambience!

The night started out with my girlfriend making our reservation days before, she asked for a nice table...we got anything but. The 1st table was at the entrance to the main dining room and right by a server station, no way too much traffic, so we asked to move. The next table was right near the main door (off the street, cars flying by) and the table sat at a terrible angle (sauce running almost off the plate). We felt sheepish asking for another table because we were told they were fully booked (we saw 2 other nicer tables sit unoccupied for the next half hour). Undeterred, we ordered apps. We ordered the special soup (carrot/ginger) and a lobster crab cake. We asked to have the soup split. It came out in one bowl, so we sent it back to be split. It came back out with the lobster cakes (no plate spacing). The soup was worse than the soups you can buy at trader joes and the lobster cakes (aka potato cakes for $12) were almost all bread. Our backs are starting to ache a little at this point from the table angle. We order our meal with apps on the table. Not even 5 min later my rib eye and her ahi tuna come out. How in the world can you cook a rib eye in 5 min? In shock we cram our plates on the terribly angled table with the app plates. Even our waitress is shocked at the speed of the arrival. My rib eye was half fat (not marbled - good steak house fat...pure fat), and her ahi tuna was passable but nothing special. I told my waitress that half the rib eye was fat (showed her) and she told me no one else had ever complained. Um, that didn't make my dish better so I sent it back. This time, a fillet came out (full price, more expensive than my original order) - mediocre at best. The sides were average, mash potatoes plain (no garlic, seasoning) and the carrots were barely cooked. Nowa we are laughing at how bad everything is, especially considering the terrible angle of the table and chairs (back and neck hurting now). Please save your money.
